without complicating matters, I can recomend using Camera RAW with Photoshop and doing all the sharpening at the RAW stage in PS. It will take some proving, but when printing large images photos sharpened at the RAW stage look slightly better than images sharpened using USM
Just for your information the August Issue of Digital Camera Magazine did a really good article on digital sharpening with some free plugins too

    Steve,

I dont think the author asked anyone to classify it as “outstanding”. and by posting the image here I suspect he just wanted to show other members his work. Surely a photograph is in the eyes of the photographer, and only him/her can see the true worth of the image because he/she composed it and chose when to release the shutter.

I think its a good shot, with a wonderful composition and personally speaking as someone who has sold hundreds of images to the travel industry and other publicly known companies I would be pushing the image down Easyjets throat and saying what about this folks! – Its a perfect saleable image

Well it beats last weeks fiasco then, although I have to say – I got some decent shots in between the showers

Thats not without paying a price though….after huddling under my umbrella every 2 minutes my large camera case became positioned in a large pool of water and upon lifting it to walk back to the car Jonezi and I (he was helpless) noticed the side had fallen off…..obviously been soaked in water hadnt helped the cause.

    Happy with the photos though!!

I think the political situation in the Middle East and the current aviation security alerts havent helped the cause. Having spoken to a travel agent freind of mine recently, it appears that they have had 9% more cancellations of IT/Package tour holidays than at this time last year and 13.7% on the previous 2004 year.
Self explanitory really BUMS on seats=FULL a/c = MONEY
