If anyone out there has access to Miles M.38 Messenger drawings can they please get in touch as Milson Aerospace has just received a partial project for restoration to airworthy and we need to get started working out how to proceed. Also if anyone knows of drawings for the Scottish Aviation Bulldog construction jigs I would love to hear from you too as we have some work on the fuselages of our projects that really requires the use of these or similar fixtures.

Have someone here in New Zealand that might be able to help. He’s also looking for parts too. In particular Hobson Fuel Control units x2 (type 15/1a with Mod 3014iss.2 embodied)
Send me a PM and I’ll get you his details.

    Hi Bob

They are copies of the original factory drawings and are complete with the exception of one of the Rib drawings (however this is being resolved at the moment too). As far as I know the drawings for the Courier still exist and I am hunting them down also. Unfortunately the A.S.1 Tern drawings appear to have either been distroyed or misplaced. Any information to the contrary would be most welcome indeed. There are other Airspeed 1934 Ltd types that I would love to see drawings for as well such as the A.S.4 Ferry (I know it looks odd) and the A.S.45 Cambridge.

In regards to the DeHavilland drawings I have made contact with DH Support initially and will see where to go from here.

Hi all, You can add Airspeed A.S 10 Oxford drawings to the list as I have them. I’m interested in finding drawings for the Hornet moth and vampire for up coming restorations too though. Kind regards, Dave.

    Thank you for that Mark.

I have some of the Newnes books ( though keen to collect the rest). As for the thread, I have just taken a look and they are definitely the type of photographs I am after. Gives me a better idea than just the drawings I am working from.

    Regards,
    Dave.

    Now in New Zealand

Canada’s Aviation Museum also has a Consul in their inventory.

    Registration #: G-AIKR (UK)
    Manufacturer: Airspeed Limited, England
    Manufacture Date: 1945
    Construction #: 4338
    Aquisition Date: 1965

The museum example was converted from Oxford to Consul in 1946 and flew commercially with various owners until purchased by the Canadian War Museum in 1965

I believe this aircraft is now in the very capable hands of the restoration team at the R.N.Z.A.F museum at Wigram in Chrstchuch New Zealand. I’m not sure on the current status of the rebuild (returning it to A.S.10 oxford as standard). I’m also hopeful that the entire staff and complex came through the major earthquakes in the region unscathed.

    More photos would be great.

I have a couple of the example at the Museum of transport and technology in Auckland N.Z. somewhere. I’ll try to post them shortly.

    Dave.
