What airline? do you ever fly from BRS?

I sure you know, but I’m going to say it it anyway: You are very very very lucky to FLY!!! I envy you but I suppose I could try to be a pilot as a future career. At my age I still have options luckily.

    green321,

Do you have any idea what the Privatair A219 was doing at LPL?

It comes to FZO (Filton, nr BRS) on a regular basis andflies Airbus/BAe workers to TLS in Fance and Broughton. My Uncle works for Airbus so he goes on it and I’ve got the Privatar inflight magazine and boarding cards. The service used to be operated by Bristish European on a BAe146 but when they changed to flybe. the stopped.

OLT flies to Hamburg and Bremen in Germany for the same reason too on a Saab340 from Filton.

Talking of Filton, I went past in the car today and the road runs right past the runway and a section of the taxiway where two EAL 742 are stored. I got a really good view but I didn’t have my camera which was a shame. G-BDXH had its engines off. Looked vey sad 🙁

I would just like to add that it isn’t the older members that are the best, it’s the ones who come out with the best information, someone could have been a member here for 4 years and only posted 7 posts with about 3 words in each. I think I have made my point.

I agree completely with the above.

The older members do deserve respect but just because they have been here a long time doesn’t mean they’re fantastic. Although my posting number is quite low I had been reading the forum for quite some time before I joined, and also I don’t always post anything if I don’t have anything to say.

I understand your views about you don’t want this forum becoming like airliners.net which some would say has just got too big and intertational but saying that you don’t want new members anymore is the wrong way to look at it. We should make more of an effort to infrom new members here of how things are done here (not in a horrible/bossy way but friendlya and so they understand) and so that people don’t loose identity and it becomes too big. The forum does need new members. With just a few members it would get boring I think. With more members there’s more points of view/opinions, more ideas, more local airport news, more photos, more trip reports etc. It doesn’t mean more rubbish at all.

I think it was a proposed helicopter project by boeing the BA was thinking about but it never quite ‘got off the ground’ pardon the pun!…… mais Je ne sais pas (but I don’t know) It may have been a fully operation a/c that flew with BA.

How do you get to sit backwards on a civil a/c (eg a southwest 737) unless you’re crew? All the seats on flights I’ve been on have facing forward.

I felt like asking someone freom the crew once if we could swap places for the T/O or landing so I could see what it was like but I thought they would say no so I didn’t bother. Sounds like fun though…

As for the window blinds, I’ve always been told to keep them open all thourgh the flight (unless it was night of course) and especially for take off and landing. I asked a c/c memeber who confirmed it was so that in the event of an emergency and the a/c loss power resulting in having no lighting and having to be evacuated then they could see, and also so they could see if there were any problems with the engines or something they could report it to the pilots immedialy who would take appr. action.
I know that the flight still ended in disaster, but imagine if the crew on the BD 734 to BFS from LHR in 89 had the windows closed the crew wouldn’t have known that the engine was on fire (well, as fast). Although many people died on that flight it could have been worse perhaps and everyone could have died if the engine actually blew up in flight.

I heard somewhere that the c/c suddenly ordered the window blinds to be pulled down when an a/c was on the ground being loaded up for the flight with “cargo”. The cargo turned out to be a dead body which had rolled out of the coffin when the people loading the coffin onto the a/c had an accident. The crew must have noticed it and ordered the pax to close the windows.

I received this email from a Welch person today.

    There is a God !!!!

It’s alleged that one of the French football players has failed a drugs and alcohol test yesterday (Sunday) after the match. If this is confirmed as positive, under World Football Federation rules, paragraph 6 sub section 2e, France will forfeit the first group match 3-0.

Scroll down for the full transcript of this report.

Carlsberg do not send emails, but if they did they would probably be the best emails in the world.

    I like that! 😀 😀

That a/c used to visit Filton on a regular basis. It took parts (mainly wings) that were made at Filton and flown to TLS for the Airbuses. I thought it had stopped flying and a jet version (a modified A330/A300) had replaced it.

Maybe it was going to Woodford. That’s near to MAN isn’t it? or to the other place in Wales where they produce Airbus parts.

    Thank you MH!

I’m sorry if I may have offended you in my previous post. I just thought you were some sort of oddball. You seem very friendly! I must have misinterpreted your post.

    Send my regards to Kylie.

I have to agree 100% with T5 on what he said. He said exactly what I was thinking so I don’t need to repeat it myself.

I personally think that the flight reviews, photos and flight sim posts are what makes the forum one of the best forums on the web, along woth friendly/helpful memebers and a good web page layout. Simply if you donr want to red a post then do not open it and I really suggest that you visit the General discussion forum if ypu want to see a load utter crap. The General aviation forum has a few wierdos in it too. This forum is deff. my favourite with best members and subjects.

The smaller airports don’t have glideslopes on them for pilots to follow so you have to do it visually I’m afriad. I found it very difficult at the beginning but you get used to it.

MYT bring an A321 here aswell every so often and the FCA A320’s are common.
The 757’s are rare nowerdays for some reason. I thought they would increase with BRS expanding but they didn’t. MON operated to Faro with an A321 last year every Sunday and XLA bring a 738 here sometimes and the occasional AEU 737 plus all the other Spannish charters (IWD JKK etc)
