That A319 (G-EZEK) was at BRS yesterday. Its very rare to see it here. I didn’t manage to find out where it was from/or going to, can anyone help?

I think the A319 wears the EZY c/s better than the 737’s although the EZY livery could do with an update overall in my opinion…

87 this the license plate number of the place I was born

Am I right in thinking you’re from the Vienne area of France?

I’m most familiar with 22 -Cotes d’Armor, Dinan which is a lovely place!! I love France and speaking French. It’s one of my favourite countries.

Dinard (DNR) is my local airport when I’m there but it’s only an FR 738 from STN and an Aurigny trilander from Jersey that ever visits there!

I didn’t take it by the way.

Mine is pretty obvious and straight-forward! – a bit too much really. I wish I had chose something a bit more imaginative but I was keen to start on the forum and it was one of the fisrt ideas as a username.

I chose Britannia 767 as G-BRIF (BY 767-200) from LGW-VCE was my first ever flight and I think it was quite special. From then on I was into aviation like mad!

    Speedbird 12T,

I think I can answer your questions from what I’ve heard. It’s a mixture to what a friends who works for NATS has told me and the tv.

    1) The actual computor system that went down was the one that handles the data/info of the aircraft, eg: the reg, the a/c type etc.
It went down when it wouldn’t restart for some reason. The reason it had been switched off was because they were testing some new software on it that they are wanting to install later this year.

    2) I think the a/c would still be able to fly, bearing in mind that the computor system that went down wasn’t a absolute Vital piece of equipment but it would have been quite dangerous to keep planes flying as normal with it not working. Understandably they didn’t want to take any chances of an accident so they closed the airspace for a while.

    3) The aircraft already flying into the UK (many of them being transatlatic services) were intructed to land like normal but a bit slower to be safer with not everything working as well. All UK departures were cancalled at one point, again just to be careful.

The funy thing is even with all that brand new equipment they ‘splashed out’ on it’s still got problems!

It’s years and years of yet again more under-investement in my opinion from the hopeless Conservatives. Was there any service that they didn’t under-invest in that has led to a backlog a problems a few years down the line?

It was caused when they were testing a new system overnight at West Drayton and for some reason or other they couldn’t get it up and running again for this morning. For that time that they closed the airspace is has resulted in major distruption, but they are now saying things are up and running again and should be back to normal by later today or tomorrow. I think it was an unfortunate problem with had major consequences. I’m glad I’m not flying today!

I don’t know why you didn’t put “why I don’t trust the french Aviation officials” insted of just the “The French” – you may get some people’s backs up on here perhaps. hopefully not anyway!

I think the incident with the A320 crash was the fault of the aircraft not the pilot. A very large part of all Airbus aircraft desingns are done in the UK and other Countrys too, so it’s not just all the French as the a/c happen to be assembled there. Although the fly-by-wire is great in many ways, I don’t think it’s a good idea to have a computor always in charge of everything.

The concorde issue has always been contraversial. I feel I dont know enough to make a valid comment yet.
