That’s a real shame about the BA 747 being cancelled! For me that’s one of the highlights of the show! I was disappointed to hear that. The 777 back in 2002 was great! If all their aircraft are busy on that weekend then I suppose there’s not a lot they can do about it.
I hope BA will still come to the show though like they normally do with their stand.
I’m going there on Saturday too. This year I’m going with air cadets for the first time so it’ll be even more interesting! Due to school and other commitments I was unable to attend the camp there – I was really annoyed about that… but I’ve got too much work at school and they wouldn’t authorise it. I’d be there now if I’d gone on the camp. I’m making sure I go next year though!
I think it’s worrying how the British Media is able to access information like that on Forums for Professional Pilots and aircrew.
Furthermore, even when the information is given to them so easily they still manage to get it wrong.
Journalists (especially for British tabloid newspapers) come across as being so stupid.
I originally saw this on the Pprune forum, and then again today in The Daily Mail (quite unexpectedly)
I was surprised at the story, and thought it was rather unprofessional of the Condor pilots, who are supposed to be highly trained and responsible individuals as pilots. However, we all know how the media (and sometimes people in general) can ‘spice up’ the original story so perhaps it’s not all it seems. I don’t know enough about it really to make a fair comment.
In the article from the Daily Mail, it had “Airbus 757”. Their incompetent “travel editor” gets it wrong yet again… 😮 Wouldn’t it be nice if they could employ someone who at least had some vague idea of the aviation industry…?
Some reports are saying the TCX (UK) 757 pilot climbed quickly to avoid the DE a/c (which is probably most likely) and others are saying he put the a/c into a steep descent(?)…Whatever he did, well done! 🙂 ex- RAF Harrier pilot I see! 😀 probably has a fair amount of experience in sharp manoeuvres then in that case!

Joe
From what I read on the accident it appeared that there were bad storms on the night of the flight around the airport.
On the 2nd approach after a go-around the F/O expressed to the Captain that he wanted to divert to BCN but the Captain didn’t want to. As the Captain was of course in charge they went ahead for a 2nd attempt and then crashed. I bet the F/O said “I told you so…” lol
Deano – Are you at Filton? I’m currently working with MK Airlines (just finished work exp. there)- and trying to get them to agree to me having a go on their DC-8/747 simulator some time! Should be well cool if they let me! I had a great time working with the team at MK – A good company despite the bad reputation they’re desperately trying to get rid of!
Brill Shots!
I saw all those a/c fly over my house earlier today! If it wasn’t for the revison I have to do for next week I would have been up at BRS today! I wish I had now…! I was wondering what the hell that Sun Adria F-100 was.
Someone I know (my boss) was on that FCA 757 arriving back from his holiday!
Love that EasyJet shot! Nice to see a new FR 738 at BRS too! pictured with an EI 320! Even better..

Joe
Wow! Brill Shots Britannia! Well Done
I love the TU-154’s – I wish Balkan sent them to BRS sometimes instead of their A320’s. Would make a nice change.
Also nice to see Easyjet’s KE ‘Daniel Swaddle’ pictured there. It’s their only aircraft with a name I believe.
(For those who don’t know; Daniel was 17 and one of the youngest people ever to qualify as a pilot. He had wanted to be a commercial pilot since an early age and was due to fly with Easyjet but tragically died as a result of a brain tumour. Easyjet named an aircraft in his honour.)
It doesn’t specify a price…
Well Done Matt! 😀
I remember feeling really pleased with myself when I finally landed the 747 properly! Remeber the more practise the better.. The 744 is certainly the hardest, not only because it’s the biggest a/c but because my old computor struggles with it.
I’ve been given the opportunity to fly a real 747 simulator (-200) at the company HQ at Landhurst some time! I’m very excited! Can’t wait!!!!

We’ve got 4 DC-8’s inside, KO, KH, KN and I don’t know what the other one is…KG maybe?
KF (Kilo Fox) is the DC-8 55F that’s parked outside (in the old livery) and the one we did the engine runs on.
The 747-200 is a combi version, 5R-MFT ex Air Madagascar which was bought purely for spares and parts for our own 74 fleet. I went in it the other day and it’s like a ghost plane in there! Quite sad really, most of the seats and toilets are intact still. I took a load of safety cards and inflight magazines out of it. She’s going to be chopped up soon sadly. Apparently Aviation Servies are getting annoyed with it being there taking up so much room!! They keep their support vehicles behind it.
Good For you mate!
My next scheduled flight is on Sunday at RAF Colerne in a Grob Tutor. Can’t wait!
yup definitily white, saw it being rolled out ouf the paint shop at filton, on the way to lunch the other day……it was just getting ready for take-off at knocking-off time.
Camera’s are not allowed on-site without special clearance so there’s no chance of me jumping headlines with some of the aircraft that get rolled out of the air livery hangar (the old brabazon hangar as it happens) unfortunately.
coanda
Coanda,
yep It’s white! deffo… I saw it being rolled out too!
I work for MK Airlines, we’re next door in the Brabazon Hangar and I took some photos of it. They didn’t mind at all! In fact the crew were messing around taking photos themselves before they flew it back to LGW!
I spoke to the crew and they asked me if they liked it or not. Not too sure what they thought about it! They don’t like our livery much 🙁 LOL
The bloke from Air Livery said to the Pilots “It’s on bloody Airliners.net already!” Had to laugh at that. 😀
Our tug is broken (gearbox  ) and we had to borrow that one from Aviation Services in the photo to push out one of our DC-8’s for an engine (KF) run and they charged us for it! 😮 Don’t know what the boss
said :p
Joe
