India would have to select a Western Type (4.5 Generation) fighter for the MMRCA. Before the US would even consider letting India have access to the F-35………..India is just mixing and matching! Personally, I see India purchasing both Russian and Western Equipment for some time. As she has little choice…..she can’t afford purely Western Equipment and she can’t live with purely Russian.

MKI will be top fighter for IAF untill 2020. than PAK-FA derivative will take over. The rest of fighter fleet is from 80s era and will perish with time.
Any other fighter joining in mean time is on border line of wishfull thinking.

Well, what’s your number! If, India wanted a Russia type for the MMRCA. It could have just purchased more Flankers or Fulcrums…………Obviously, India is considering other options than purely Russian Equipment.

India already increased Flanker order by 40. Integrating Brahmos into it. Both of these were not in original plane. Similar is case with RD-33 licenses. So if India wanted anything Western they would signup for it since 2001 on original MRCA was floated. Any thing of small order would have been fine. But now situation is hopeless for even M2K upgrade unless some cheap stuff is put inside it.

Why would Obama or any one else for that matter, need to spend any money selling old inventory? thats called earning money?!

Old aircraft does not fly by themselves. u have to train people.deliver weopons, spare parts to fly them. There is no such thing exist in UKraine for those aircraft and no one is going to invest in them.

Ukraine doesn’t want to intergrate with Russia on any level and the West is far from Bankrupt…………So, look for Ukraine to move closer both Militarily and Economically to Europe and the US.

While Russian and Ukrainian politicians are still locked in various negotiations over gas transportation networks, private sector players from the two countries are finding increasing areas of agreement.
News broke recently that Russia’s Gazmetall and the Ukraine’s Industrial Union of Donbass (IUD) have concluded a landmark merger deal to create quite possibly the largest steel-making company in the CIS, with an annual output of around 20 million tonnes.

The F-16’s would be cheap and would get Ukraine in the door so to speak! They would be followed by new Western Types as resources became available…………:D

MIG-29 is even cheaper as it is already there and they have factory and know how to modernize them. Neither Ukraine has the money nor West is willing to invest in them. So no chance of Western types in UKraine. Russians with alot of money can literally buy that new Western fighter from UKraine. UKraine cannot control its own people. And i highly doubt Obama if elected is going to spend Tax payer money in UKraine. Only GW Bush can make bankrupt decision. Forget about Western EU.:D

Why would they want second hand fighters and all associated investment of maintianing them. UKraine Industrial enterprizes with many ethinic russians have long cooperative agreements with Russian. Which is not the case with Poland. So any Nato technology will likely fall into Russian hands.

Ukraine modernizing MIG-29 fighter

The 2007 State budget has appropriated 7.7 M. UAH (about 1.5 M. USD) to complete research works on the modernization of the MiG-29 fighter in 2007, Defense Minister Anatoliy Hrytsenko reported, “Cabinet press office” informed.

According to the Minister, the key factory involved in the MiG-29 modernization is the State-run defense factory “Lviv Aircraft Repair Factory”. In Hrytsenko’s opinion, a cooperative potential of Ukrainian plants should be entirely used in the process of the MiG-29 improvement, as well as the technological innovations obtained when modernizing foreign customers’ aircrafts.

As Air Forces Commander colonel-general Anatoliy Toropchyn noted, the MiG-29 modernization enables to extend its service life up to 35-40 years from the time they had been produced, and up to 20 years of durability for engines.

I think it is the smallest among diesle subs with AIP.

Power plant includes two diesel generators, storage battery, propulsion motors and air-independent power units with the electrochemical generator.

According to the statement of representative “[Finkanteri]”, the boat Of s1000 is not intended for Navy of Russia and Italy, but it is proposed only to third country. In the case of obtaining the order, the period of the development of technical documentation and building of head boat on the Italian shipyards will be 48 months.

On its board will be established both Russian and Italian equipment in the relationship 50:50.
