Chippy went to Halton Tues afternoon, stayed overnight, so that the boss could fly with the AOC in the chippy the following day.
Just to say thanks a lot for all your feedback on the site, let’s just say you have all made an old man very happy, so happy he was in tears!!

Sorry wrong code letters the ones quoted are 550 Sqn. HW-R is the one we are replicating from 100 Sqn with 31 missions and yes if the yellow gas patch is on the photo’s it will be on the aircraft. Four or five of the crew are still with us and I believe one of them was involved with the nose art, so hopefully there are more pictures available for us to use, to go with the ones we already have. Picture is 550Sqn.
Thanks for the replies so far, its not as easy as it seems to answer the question. Geoff got your PM thanks.

You beat me to it, its not money but good research, we had some good original photo’s showing all the detail required, Arco did the rest and as you can see the end result is excellant

Is this the sort of picture you are after
Yes & TE311 will have two re-sparred E wings
No drawings for the economiser cover I’m afraid, the turrets are not covered by the drawings we have. but we have the maint/spare manuals for the FN121
The other drawing I was looking for was A1627 but we have sold out. I will post picture of said drawing, we have one framed in our crewroom, on here tomorrow.
SL674 has MK356’s wings.
Having stripped ” TB382″ down, no data plates found, taken years ago probably, one C wing and one E wing lots of fibre glass panels, records that stop around the 1960s wheres the clear lineage. That was the same with TE311 except we found one paint encrusted plate with the a/c nos on.
How can anyone be SURE we haven’t just stripped down any Mk XVI. I would be interested to know.
Yes we have just the drawing you are after I will see if we have any left tomorrow or give you the drawing nos to get one. Will also look for cover drawing.
Heres a picture from PA474 showing a section of the ammo track, we fitted this a few years ago. We borrowed the tracking from S for Sugar and had it copied by Airframe assys
Not bought, but we supplied the 22,000 drawings that you can get from Lancasterrestorations.com
Yes, you can read the part nos of the track sections although the drawings are not that brilliant The originals they scanned, were not that good.
