Small and quiet. The usual Fouga and Flamant static. A few Jodels and a Cub.
And the Kitten of course. Not the Dart variety though!
Laurence
Sorry, Laurence. I don’t pop in here as often as I should!
Merci!
No problem! Kenneth got it for me. Nice place Visan, nice people. Know it?
One of the really big grass runways.
Salut
Laurence
Thanks Kenneth. I just tried J-3 Kitten on Google and it looks as if you are correct. Another one solved!
Laurence
Oops, I just opened a couple of attachments to the message I mentioned above. It is obviously soft porn spam. How does that get through to Key?
Laurence
Dear l.garey,
Unatotaigma has just replied to a thread you have subscribed to entitled – RAF Peterborough (Westwood) – in the Historic Aviation forum of Key Publishing Ltd Aviation Forums.
I just got the above email notification that there is a new posting on this thread, but there is nothing on the thread that I can see. Can “Unatotaigma” check and repost? Thanks
Laurence
I checked out GVA yesterday. I am told the Atlantic was scrapped when the new buildings were erected recently. Pity really.
Laurence
Atlantic at GVA
I have just heard from a friend who works in the IATA building at GVA, near where the restaurant was, that the whole place disappeared with the new terminal works, and he does not know what happened to the Atlantic. I shall try to find out.

Atlantic at GVA
Seems this was there in 2004. I shall go and see next week.

Thanks. I never eat there, but now I seem to recall that there was a fin mentioned. In fact I think they called it the Atlantique restaurant. I shall check it out.
Laurence
Really? I live just down the road from GVA and would like to find that Atlantic. Any details of where exactly? I have never seen it.

re G-ANTD
Just saw your post Discendo.
Yes, G-ANTD (cn 49153/26414) was RAF Dakota IV KJ977.
Last I heard it was broken up at Norwich about 1973.
Laurence
Done, but on the new post “Wymeswold display 1955”
Laurence
Thanks for the information Dave. I am glad you found this new thread. I remember being very impressed by the Kitten in 1955.
Did any bits survive after the crash in 1966?
Laurence
No, John, I confess I cannot remember the Attackers or Thunderjets, or the RV Hunter. My display was 30 May 1955. Is that your date too?
Mixed up with the negatives I just posted is one of 8 Meteors in formation, which may have been the same day, and I have 4 Hunters and 4 Canberras in formation too, but again not sure if they were that day.
I note that Chipmunk WP778 was there too. WP778 was still with Nottingham UAS when I flew with them in 1958, and we also had WK635, WD295 and WD345. WG471 had gone by then.
Not directly related to Wymeswold, but to NUAS, was when the fellows from the RCAF visited us at Newton one night and next morning we found one of our Chipmunks redecorated with a maple leaf.

In October 1959 Wymeswold was crawling with RCAF T33s, and also Sabre BB731 (was that 19731, ex XD730?), but I also saw Viking CR-IAC and DC6 G-APNP.
Cheers, Laurence
Thanks BSG. It is nice to share these photos. I am sorry about the quality, as I was a mere teenager, although I have nothing against (most) teenagers, and was using ancient 120 roll film and had to scan up from a tiny part of the frame. Got some nasty “moiré” effects. I ought to rescan them I suppose!
They may bring back some memories though.
