Thanks Anon. If it’s a Blenheim the date of 1947 is wrong, which is quite possible of course.
I just received from the museum a translation of a note in Arabic which was with the remains:
It had three people in it. None died in it. They were carried to Sharjah’s Al Mahatta on camels. Pots and pans were made out of it. 1947. Civilian plane coloured white. 52
Mysterious to say the least!

A few more photos just received. Do they help the identification?
I have tried to enhance the part in the last but one picture (a casting with a square hole and a round hole) but cannot make out the numbers. Can someone with more skill try it for me? Thanks
Sorry Andy! Yes that seems to be correct. There are also numbers on the last piece but one, but I can’t make them out. I hope to get higher resolution pictures soon.
Thanks Andy. I can’t see that number you mention. I see BS3096 on the angled threaded bit (? fuel connection at a guess). In any case Blenheim in 1947 would not fit. They were at Sharjah around 1942/43. But maybe the circumstances of the crash are different from what the museum was told: I am still working on that.
I have been trying to read lists of AM Ref Nos. As far as I can read, the one on the black bakelite ring is AM REF No 5?D/534, although the D is not very clear and could be wrong.

I also found a photo of a bomb selector at http://aircraft-cockpits.com/ww2uk/5D-Armament-Bombing-Equipment/5D-656-Bomb-Selector.jpg
Could it one of those rings? If so, what aircraft?
Thanks.
Laurence
This is presumably the Swiss Rimowa Ju-52 (HB-HOT), not the Lufthansa one.
Thanks Elliot. There are some numbers visible on the low-res photos I posted, and I am waiting for more news from the museum people, I hope next week. I thought someone might recognise some parts, like the bomb release surround (from MerlinPete) that was a surprise for me.
As I said in my first post, I cannot confirm the circumstances of the crash. I only have the information sent to me by the museum. I have asked them for any more information they may have.
So, two suggest Blenheim. But were there any Blenheims around Sharjah in 1947? They operated from Sharjah (Mk IV and V) with 244 Squadron in 1942.
That’s correct, Moze. Take it from there.
Thanks for the info so far. Sorry about the “tyre”! Is that last frame Mosquito, then?
We had the Coubasch in the snow at Lausanne last week, so here is another one in the snow, but not at Lausanne.

Thanks Scrooge. Every little helps, they say, even though the seats are light in terms of total weight!
I thikn we can conclude that they are Dove seats.
