Revenge for what you said about my mis-spelling of Martlet on the Shuttleworth Proms thread: what are “avions françaises”?
Interesting, though, that its registration should be ESEL, which is German for donkey!
Thanks Peter
Thanks for that Peter.
This thread can still be useful for trying to get to the ultimate conclusion: confirming that the remains found by ARIDO (qattara) are those of FS Copping and attempting to find the rest (hard as that may be). If that is possible, then it will not be too difficult to trace the DNA to the bereaved family. Our interest in the pilot is in no way diluted by the recovery of the aircraft.
But I agree with Peter and Shepsair that we must stick to the point and not dilute the thread with irrelevance.
Thanks
To say no-one is interested is far from the truth.

Hello Jim. You might almost have seen it on the A15 yourself! I was very pleased to do so. Thanks to everyone for all the interesting comments it has provoked!
Thanks jbs. Quite a lucky sighting, at least for me. Not many of those around. Do you know who will do the repaints, and as what? 1 Squadron, of course, I presume.
You did well to change your mind, because you are right.
battle: Would that be the nose I saw at Essendon in 1987 (see my post #35, above)?
Is this the Anson I saw at Essendon in 1987 (photo below). I have spoken to Mark Pilkington about it by e-mail, but I thought it worth asking here.
If so, what is the significance of the apparent “10 ” on the nose?

Or this might happen …
You mean these?

I’m not sure about the registration though.
Take it away Eric.
Try this. Sorry for the quality.
