Lak5 Nemunas. From the 0001 serial this is, I presume, the ex CCCP-0001 prototype.
Edited to say now I have clicked on the thumbnail the title of the slide comes up!
Some forgotten fins. Huskies at Karachi.

While waiting for the chance to try an “easy, what, where, when” challenge, I may just say that I discovered the new Google trick last week. I tried it and it can give some hilarious results. Just stick in any old aeroplane photo and see what it comes up with!
I doubt if that crane will fly again, but this Dove might after “major overhaul”

Oops, you just beat me to it. I’ll delete mine and keep it for another time

Yes, I have many other things to do (not necessarily “better” though). The only wreckage I ever came across on a “high pasture” (not alpine though) was the Venom at 2000m in Oman. Nowadays you are more likely to collide with a passing hang-glider or “parapente” than find a Phoenix, risng from the ashes or not. But it might be fun trying. Trouble is, the “French Alps” covers a mighty big chunk of terrain.

Well I guess after a year and a half they are not going to reply! Pity. It would have been worth finding.
I have just sent the BEA a message on their website, just in case.

Not scanned slides, but relevant to the Huskie trend:
HH43P fuselage in the dump at the PAF Museum in Karachi, 2007. No serial visible.

But the fins of 62-4553, 4556 and 4557 were alongside.

Oddly, 62-4556 is on display at the museum so the fins must have been changed.
Interesting when you start looking at old slides 40 years later: the KC135 seems to have its port outer missing!
In fact there seems to be a gentleman in brown trousers taking a photo of it. Maybe he is on this forum!
Prompted by Alan’s pictures, I scanned a few slides from Upper Heyford open day 14 June 1969. Note the excellent weather and excellent access to the aircraft.
C54M 44-9100 and VC47D 43-48913
C97G 52-2678
Phantom “VL-153” XT868
Vulcan XH534 and Victor XL165
KC135A 61-275
HH43B 62-4533
Lovely photos, as always.
For the record:
G-AIUL of Derby Aviation at Wymeswold 30/5/1955

Pagen: can’t view them? Is that you or me?
Yes, it could be one of those. The colours look T2-like.
D1566: you obviously can see them! Yes, a Britannia.
