Amazing photo, Atcham Tower. The only registration I can see in full appears to be G-AOMO, and you can see its serial is “VS” something. Yet, in paulmcmillan’s scan it is given as VR209. I wonder how accurate the cross checking was at the time?
The same match is also given in the list in

This is good news. It is a while since we used to see her purring into Geneva, visual, past our house!
At Payerne 2004:

Newforest: which airline? She was ex USAF.

Similar view, different air force.

Thanks Adrian. Thunderbird also noted that in post #30.
I wish I could find any trace of these Javelins, but it seems they were all disposed of when the Poly moved house.

So they called the NC832 the Chardonneret too! And yet they seem rather different (especially the undercarriage)!

Here’s the Chardonneret (Goldfinch)

and here the NC832

Looks like it’s the NC832.
You can just see the F-W under wilkofife’s photo’s wing.
Laurence
Looks like a tail-wheel version of the NC840 Chardonneret

John Smith: I don’t quite understand. If you look at post # 1, I started this thread based on my correspondence with Singapore Polytechnic.

One other source of information might be the BA Archive at Heathrow. When I went there a couple of years ago they were VERY helpful and they have a BIG archive.

Mine too. What if it turned out to be Hannibal, just slightly off course? Except it’s the wrong year.
I’ll get my coat, as they say.

Re the C-47 on Sentosa. I saw it there in 1987, together with the Meteor, Hunter and Sea Vixen. It carried the marks WB and 886 on the fin, although they were difficult to decipher. When the people from Queensland came in 1989 they removed the other 3, but the C-47 had been scrapped, exactly when I am not sure. The photos of the C-47 at the Poly were in about 1978 or 1979.

That’s the one. I even spent some time looking for it between Dibba and Sharjah but, not surprisingly, nothing to report.

Thanks lauriebe. Let’s see if anyone on the thread has any information. You never know with this site!
PS: Is Penang still as nice a place as it was in the 1980s/90s?
