    Side note:
    … they’re buying the not-yet-existent A350F?

No they are actually buying 12 A350-800s.

Wasn’t that announced at Paris or is it a new order?

Sort of. They signed an agreement type thing that said they would buy the aircraft but it didn’t specify how many or when.

Hey guys, have just found out the Emirates A380 IS NOT painted!!! See below:

QUOTE: The aircraft however is not painted in Emirates colours. With the tight schedule of the certification campaign, painting the aircraft was not possible. Instead, full customisation was done with removable decals, a technique already used in the recent Asia-Pacific tour.

With this technique, a few logos can be applied in one to two hours, however doing a full aircraft livery can take up to two whole days. So the Airbus team in Toulouse prepared the second A380 in full Emirates livery for the Dubai Airshow while the first A380 was on tour in Asia and Australia, In total, for both aircraft, around 1,000 decals were used.

There are no safety issues resulting from attaching decals to the aircraft exterior. A varnish is applied as a precautionary measure, which ensures the decals stay in place during flight. It is also better for the aerodynamics as it creates a rounder edge for the decal.

Removing the livery is relatively simple. A varnish remover is applied and the decals are slowly peeled off to ensure no paint is removed.

Airbus has secured some orders from Kuwait. Alafco has ordered 12 A350s worth $2.9bn and Jazeera Airways has ordered 6 A320s.

Why Are u comparing the a380 with the 787 they are 2 completely different aircraft meant for 2 completely different markets..the 787 has a larger market in terms of no . of airliners required in the world and costs about half as compared to the A380. It would be rather beneficial to compare the a350 to the 787.

gmnstruber37, I was responding to the above post.

Does anyone else find the bmi livery really cool? I don’t know why I like it, I just do. Brill shots.

Superb shots there, it really does make me feel sad seeing that Avro RJX there – it breaks me heart. It probably has been posted before but why did they cancel the production of it?

The commercial aircraft division of BAe was loss making. They scrapped all commercial activities apart from their stake in Airbus, and just focused on defence.

Great shots their matt. I think you can take off the student photgrapher tag and replace it with pro 🙂

the a346 looks lean and quite good…Airbus needs to do something about it and its competition against the 777

What are they going to do with the A340? Once they have the A380 & A350 in service along with the A330, is there really any place for the A340? Compared to the 777 it’s orders this year have been really slow. I think it only got 1 at Paris, and that was for the Iranian government.

Given the limited number of available slots at LHR, I think Stansted will be the new hotbed for London expansion.

I’m not comparing the 787 to the A380, I’m just saying Airbus need more orders for their newer a/c.

QUOTE/:Mr Bryon said bmibaby is also looking into introducing other routes such as Brussels, and is working with the National Assembly to determine which routes might bring the biggest benefit to the region, but more expansion will only be confirmed once demand for them has been established.
