great work! love the boeing/ ryanair shot! but god that Trigema liverly is awful!
great shots both of you! shame it’s BRS though, my most hated airport lol 🙂
The TUI liverly has gradually grown on me (hanging my head in shame), but i do think it’s really boring now. Gone are the days when airports had rows of all different liverlies that were really interesting- now you just get blocks of aircraft all with the same liverly, whicg takes half the fun out of it 🙁
Anyone who loses their job i feel sorry for, but if job cuts are going to happen i’d rather them be at Waterside HQ rather than at the airports or in the air, because thats the most important part of any airline, what people actually experiance.
I’m not so sure it would be formed “from the ruin” of Alitalia like Swiss was from Swissair, because Alitalia really won’t have anything left. Any assets will be sold off and the money will go straight to the governement because of EU regulations to do with the loan.
finishing the tail can’t be that much to ask? it’d be slightly more bearable if they did the jets blue too
PlymouthCity, they took this decision because the landing fees at GLA became outrageously high, and in fairness i can vouch for that. But to limit the damage they agreed a years partnership with ScotRail or some major train company to provide free rail travel anywhere in Scotland if you flew into PIK with baby. It was a good idea, particularly because PIK has a direct rail link to the Scottish mainline, and worked with passenger numbers actually picking up slightly. But when that deal ended and no other incentives were introduced the numbers did gradually drop, to the point that they gave the route to 6G presumably because of the smaller aircraft. They said they were considering converting to PIK at EMA too, but never did, so once again CWL lost out. In the short term i expect focus to shift back to charter due to Thomsonflys huge expansion, but medium to long term scheduled is the way forward whether it be loco or full service, and I know management are working harder than ever to secure new routes now we are seriouly lagging behind BRS.
Munich, Toulouse, Faro (although this was reintroduced this summer), Milan and plans to serve Barcelona, Nice and Murcia were dropped for no apparent reason when they got granted slots at MAN. Add to this Jersey, Glasgow Prestwick, Belfast, Cork and Paris all being operated by 6G
I just can’t wait for another loco to come into CWL and show some real commitment and just watch bmibaby curl up in a corner and die! I know, your probably thinking i’m really weird and cruel now, but as a reliable and commited airline their just not there on the front line, more running away to join the enemy as soon as a better offer comes their way.
Exactly the same at CWL! Looking at the arrivals board their flights are consistently late on average by half an hour, but the longest delay i can remember was 2 hours simply because two cabin crew went missing- turns out they’d both been sent to the wrong hotel and the bus didn’t pick them up! Talk about bad communications or what!
btw the bad punctuality is actually on flights still operated by baby aircraft- basically prague, alicante, malaga, palma, faro and edinburgh. 6G are ususally very good
baby certainly havn’t lived up to expectations! the chief of Ryanair has said that he is very keen on Cardiff as a regional airport and see’s Ryanairs oppertunites being there, withon the timescale of 5 years he said and that was last year. Now they’re out Birmingham the nearest big base they have is London? so it would make sense
The Air Transat service has been gone a while now, but there is serious demand for this new YYZ service both sides of the ocean though: The first outbound flight left CWL at full capacity, and the first inbound flight arrived with 112 Canadians on board, so i imagine there won’t be quite enough capacity when things get into full swing. Zoom have already extended the route into the winter season and it’s certain to be served next year too, as they said they would be “doubling the number of routes served” by introducing Vancouver, so I can’t imagine they ditch YYZ and replace that with something else.
Despite the drop in passenger numbers at the start of this year due to a shortage of aircraft by bmibaby and the decision by MYT to make CWL a summer only base, next year things should really take off, especially in the long haul sector. Zoom will serve Toronto & Vancouver, Thomsonfly will introduce Cancun, Puerta Plata and an extra flight to Orlando in addition to existing three services to Orlando. Thomsonfly will also introduce new European routes for the summer and winter and increase the frequencies of existimng ones, to increase there total capacity at the airport by over 50%, more than 500,000 passengers.

Whats the chance of them starting to CWL? This was always a hugely popular route when Manx operated it but got ditched when they bacame BA Citiexpress.
