From next year it should be direct
Hi 🙂
This is the first I have heard of this, but if this is true I believe it would be subsidised by the airport. Airports do subsidise new routes or increased frequencies in some instances when the airport wants more routes opened – typically the smaller ones.
I’ve read elsewhere that it is subsidised, I think for the first year, but I don’t know who by. At the time I read it load factors were only 48%
So they have had second thoughts about the silver fuselage then?

This was only going to be on 767s.
I hope there will be a similar RDF intorduced for the English regions (particularly Yorkshire and the Humber)
Are there any subsidy systems like this in England at all? Doesn’t BRS-NWK get subsidised? If so, how long does it last
Great news for CWL!
I wonder what is the future for the possibility of a Cardiff-Valley route now, as Arriva Trains Wales have introduced a 2 hourly service between North and South Wales in their new timetable?
It is still going ahead. WAG are paying for upgrades to Valley which will take place next year, and flights will start as soon as this is done. It’s hoped flights should be able to commence around October, if not then, January 07.
[QUOTE=G-CDFF]Im quite surprised with the reintroduction of the BRU route, as didn’t they drop it because of poor loads Great news for CWL anyway!
Yes poor load factors was the reason, but it was low frequency and timings were stupid. It was absolutely useless to business and not that conveniant for leisure. Although no times have been announced yet, we know it will be twice daily and mainly aimed at business pax, which is where most business will come from. Air Wales will want to make it work this time too as they are the first to use the new RDF
[QUOTE=LeftcoastCanada] I’d like to see a BA/AA merger come to fruition, that would truly be closer to a ‘global’ airline.
Seems good on principle, but you can imaghine what would happen. The Americans caouldn’t stand being taken over by a foreigner, so they’ed buy BA and just make it American in all but name, slash European routes and go **** up.
Zoom are hugely successful in their operations to Canada. I’m sure the same success could be achieved with these sort of flights to USA. However, I’m not sure the American authorites would allow it. United, US, Delta and increasingly Continental are all in a bad way, and it’s just getting more and more difficult to get into the black. If these tarns atlantic locos spring up, it would probably mark the end of these American giants. They couldn’t compete. It would be hugely embarrassing for them and the goverment, and think of all the jobs that would go. They wouldn’t allow it. It’s like a foreign carrier can’t own more than 49% of an American carrier. Thier protectionist, and judging by the state of their airlines finances they have to be
I read that BAA were planning to demolish T2 + Queen’s Building and build a new terminal for BMI, Virgin, Lufthansa and Singapore amongst others. They are hoping to have finished building for the 2012 games. Anyone got anymore on this?
P.s. Queen’s Building = Horrible offices between T1 + T2
Yes, both will be demolished and a new enlarged T2 will be built. Construction is due to start straight after all works associated with T5 are finished, early 2009 to be finished for the 2012 olympics. T1 is next to go
thanks
Yeh I thought of CO, but like most other US carriers they seem to be heading towards Chapter 11, in fact they’re one of the few that are not already in, but by the sounds of it they will be soon. American on the other hand seems reasonably stable.
I thought CO were heading towards Chapter 11, but not actually in it yet.
Is United currently in Chapter 11? I lose track as they all seem to flit in and out.
Great pics! But I can’t look at that CO757 without a pang of jealousy!
So does this mean that Alphaone is operational now then?
