Yes because it represents a Series 253 Albatros D.III built by Oesterreichische Flugzeugfabrik AG (Oeffag) in Austria (Wiener-Neustadt), for the Austro-Hungarian air force.
As such it’s fitted with a 225hp Austro-Daimler engine, as opposed to a Mercedes. This resulted in a rounded nose.Andy
Many thanks,
Mike
Any ideas why it has a rounded front cowling instead of the usual wide spinner?
Mike
Interesting that they both managed to land without one wing 🙂

I’m pretty sure I have some colour slides of it at the London Gliding Club display packed away somewhere safe.

Its the first F2B rudder I have seen with a forward projecting section:rolleyes:
Finding the Foe by a certain Mr Saunders:)
I wouldn’t bother – its rubbish. It is also very confused regarding the sequence of history and the aircraft that historical figures flew in (especially Lanoe Hawker) 🙁
Mike
Hawker Typhoon please:)
Very good and presented by a great driver:)
I agree with the request.
