Interesting site….
And it usually rained at some time over the two days, making the ground pretty soft (and muddy)!!…..
Hi:
I lived about 5 miles south of La Ferte, in Boutigny, for about 14 years. The airfield is privately owned, and its (grass) runway is notified as being 1000m x 90m. The B17 which was displayed during the Pentecot meetings usually flew in from Orly, and did not land. As Cerny is only a grass strip, I’m sure a Fortress is just a touche too big (and heavy) to operate from there.
Air Show
Hi, All
If you take the RER “D” train from Gare de Lyon, direction Malesherbes, the line goes through La Ferté. It’s then a 15 minute walk up to the airfield – just follow the crowd!! Well worth it….

La Ferte
I lived in Boutigny (about 5 miles due south of LFA) for 15 years, until about 3 months ago, walked from the station, then up the hill many times. Memory hasn’t faded, but then I am probably younger than some on this Board…..

Valiant
This aircraft first flew on 6th April 1956, which ties up with your posting #5… Might be worth contacting the Brooklands Museum -Julian TEMPLE or John PULFORD; we’ve got Valiant photographs, maybe the one you need!!
Links below should get you to them….

Aircraft Production
Hi, Forumites:
At Brooklands, we have all (wartime) copies of the monthly magazine “Aircraft Production – The journal of the Aircraft Manufacturing industry”.
That magazine was published byIliffe & Sons, of London, and retailed for 1s 6d (7½p)
Each contain a wealth of information, such as production techniques, Personalities and Development.
Amazing that such information was available during wartime; perhaps it was for a “Restricted” readership!!

Millom
Re post #251:
Just because it was “protected”, it does’nt mean it could be destroyed/lost/cut up… Nothing is safe…

Swift at Brooklands
Hi, All
There are now two references on this Forum page re the Swift at Brooklands:
This below is from what I put on the other thread on the (ex) Millom Collection…
Although the Swift fuselage now resides at Brooklands, it still remains the property of Unimetals Industries Ltd – it is on loan to the Museum.
The Museum has no current plans to do any work on the aircraft, other than to keep it weatherproof whilst it is outdoors, until such times as it can be put under cover.
The important thing was to ensure the survival of this unique piece of British aviation history, (especially with it’s connections with Brooklands – Mike Lithgow eventually becoming one of the Weybridge/Wisley Test-Pilots) and save it from being scrapped/cut-up/lost forever…
