Wow, we (or just myself ) missed this news, as I was looking through the newest issue of Air Force Monthly, April 2014. π
Pegasus to be Ofο¬cial Name for US Air Force KC-46A
US AIR Force Chief of Staff General Mark Welsh III announced on
February 20 that the new Boeing KC-46A tanker has been given the
official name βPegasusβ, after the winged horse of Greek mythology.
Four engineering and manufacturing development
(EMD) aircraft are currently in various stages of production for
the KC-46A programme, with the first now nearing completion.
After its maiden flight in June, the first aircraft will then be converted
to full tanker configuration before re-flying in early 2015.
First production delivery to the USAF is planned for early 2016,
the contract specifying that 18 combat-ready aircraft are to be
in service by 2017. The USAF will buy 179 KC-46As, with
deliveries continuing until 2027.

Now that Yaku boy escaped the country and the rebel alliance storming the capital buildings, relations with Russia probably go down hill.
Antonov will probably be hit hard. no more An-70 cooperation or An-158s being purchased and a slant towards the west.
will we expect a mass retirement of Soviet era types and a gradual incorporation of western types?
does China potentially have a role to fill the vacuum as Ukraine’s links with China are strong (Ukraine did teach the Chinese how to build tank engines, carriers, and the su-33)
According to this German news report,
Antonov are very interested in building a successor for the An-124 Ruslan. But Antonov would have to start from the scratch, since a lot of their patents are still and only registered in Russia, as it was common in the USSR. And that’s means a lot a money, training in new technology like laser-cutting, fiber-reinforced plastics . New partnerships with the aviation industry in other countries other than only with Russia are needed. One company in Russia has already canceled their partnership.
So it looks quite grim for Antonov.

I know, I didn’t find an newer thread.
I don’t think those are canards. I think the shading in the artist’s conceptual drawings makes the strakes appear to be canards from some angles.
I agree, too.
The newest configuration of Boeing’s ‘F/A-XX’ has LERX and no canards!
If we look closely at pictures again, we can even read ‘No Step’ in the shadow.
Can’t wait until I see the cabin of that flying “Weisswurst”! ;):D
Hi folks,
