It was bought by the Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum (not near Munich ), and planned to be transported to Germany in 2005. Due to legal issues, it still remains (as of June 2006) in Bahrain. It is planned to be included in the museum’s collection soon in 2007.

Write the museum an e-mail for more information!

    Side-by-side jet trainer, J Boyle!!!

I presume, the Fokker S.14, BAC Jet Provost and Morane Saulnier MS 760 were the the first side-by-side jet trainer in service, designed from the start as jet trainers.
The prototype of the Fokker S.14 flew on May 19th, 1951.

The USAF needs smart weapons with none or less collateral damage.
So the AGM-129 is past its time, because it can’t hit targets like WMD bunkers.
And a conventionally armed AGM-129 is too expensive compared to smart weapons of today. See JASSM, JDAM and UGM-109.

There was also a projected AGM-129B version of the ACM. The official source describes it as an “AGM-129A modified with structural and software changes and an alternate nuclear warhead for accomplishing a classified cruise missile mission.” Apart from that, no further information is available, but most likely no ACMs were completed as AGM-129Bs. Reports, which attribute the AGM-129B designation to a planned, but eventually not funded, non-nuclear version of the ACM are erroneous. While a conventionally armed ACM was indeed proposed to the USAF by General Dynamics (and unofficially referred to as “AGM-129C”), this proposal was turned down.

GBU-39/B Small-Diameter Bomb integration testing on the F-22A Raptor begins!

    The F/A-22A Raptor is back!;)

Raptor, precision strike bomb integration testing begins
The 411th Flight Test Squadron began integration testing of the F-22A Raptor and the GBU-39/B Small-Diameter Bomb at Edwards Air Force Base in February. Jeff Randolph, flight test engineer for The Boeing Company’s Small Diameter Bomb program, said four SDBs and its BRU-61 carriage can be loaded in each weapon bay of the Raptor. This enables the F-22 to carry a total of eight SDB weapons in addition to two AMRAAMs.

The first side-by-side jet trainer in service was the de Havilland Vampire T 11 trainer. First flown in 1950, over 600 were produced in both air force and naval models. The trainer remained in service with the RAF until 1966.

    Airbus suspends work on A380F

Airbus announced today that it had suspended development of the A380F.
So I presume, UPS will freeze its order until 2010+.

Does this mean A320 family Wing production is moving from Broughton?

I meant final assembly. Parts like wings and fuselage sections will stay at their production places.

    Power 8 press conference

Airbus will hold a press conference today at 2.00PM GMT, the press conference will be shown on line at http://www.airbus.com

The press conference will cover Power 8.

    France: 3200

    Germany: 3700

    UK: 1600

    Spain: 400

    Central station (TLS HQ) 1100

    Achieved by 2010.

Half of this are temporary contracts with external insitutional collaborators (i.e. auditors and advisors) who will be discontinued and half are permanent employees. Of these, NOBODY will be fired and the numbers will be achieved through putting some plants in joint ventures (effectively meaning also reducing the Airbus workforce), early retirement of elderly staff and natural outflow.

Airbus will move the entire A320 production and operations center to Germany. The A320E and its successor supposed to be build in Germany.
The A350 production and operations center will be in Toulouse!

Mods, please delete “: A320” in the thread title!

    F-15C PAC-3

I presume, 4 missiles on this F-15C, 2 missiles in one container!
The container doesn’t look stealthy as that container proposed for the F-22/FB-22. Anyway, doesn’t have to be…
I can’t tell you, how the missiles are launched from the container!
Please notice the 4 Aim-120’s on the fuselage! I have never seen them on a F-15C in that configuration.
