I think, this thread should have been posted in Missiles and Munitions forum.
The USMC are interested in the SDB 2 (moving targets).

Yesterday I saw on German TV (ZDF) a Kawasaki T-4 from the JASDF with a sensor pod mounted under the fuselage.
Situation 1998 in Germany!
At the ILA 1998 in Berlin I asked someone at the stand of Daimler-Benz Aerospace about naming the Eurofighter “Typhoon”. I had only read about the naming in Air International June 1998. In that issue stood the “the aircraft will be formally re-named Eurofighter Typhoon for marketing outside Europe”.
The people at the stand could not tell me official, but the german part of EFA did not like the name “Taifun/Typhoon” , because in bad remembrance of the Hawker Typhoon during WW2. I answered back, the famous german sports and touring aircraft Bf 108 “Taifun” is known for the development of metal construction. Why not remember that aircraft?
But one of them answered, the Eurofighter programm is to be historically clean.
In the end they gave me a nice poster showing all DA’s. ๐ ๐
You must remember now, that this discusion happend before the german parlament elections on Sep 27th 1998, as a Red-Green coalition (Chancellor Schrรถder) won. Before the elections, both parties, SPD and Die Grรผnen-Bรผndnis 90, were against the Eurofighter!!! Some rumors said at that time that Germany might step out of EF after the elections, so DASA tried everything not to get bad news about the Eurofighter programm!!!
Politics again!!! ๐ก
Nowadays, most of the pilots at the GAF call the EF 2000 Eurofighter, short “Eufi”, as like “Toni” for the Tornado.
Maybe soon, it might be also called “Taifun”.
As we all know, some aircraft are more known under their “unofficial” name as under their official name e.g. F-16 Fighting Falcon, better known as “Viper”. ๐
Breaking news…………
PARIS – The two chief executives of EADS have agreed to accept the resignation of Airbus CEO Christian Streiff, a person close to the European planemaker said Friday.
An Airbus spokeswoman, however, denied that Streiff was leaving the company.
EADS co-CEOs Tom Enders and Louis Gallois have agreed that Streiff should leave the company, the person said, several days after Streiff threatened to resign amid a dispute over the transparency of financial and other reporting by Airbus to EADS. The person asked not to be identified because the discussions were confidential.
Airbus denied that Streiff is to quit the company and declined to comment on a report in German weekly WirtschaftsWoche that he had offered his resignation in a letter to Gallois.
“We deny categorically that Mr. Streiff is to leave Airbus,” spokeswoman Ann de Crozals said.
Calls seeking comment were not returned by a spokeswoman for European Aeronautic Defence and Space Co. – which owns 80 percent of Airbus and has agreed to buy the remaining 20 percent from Britain’s BAE Systems PLC.
Streiff’s departure would deal a fresh blow to Airbus and its parent company as they struggle to limit the damage from a costly two-year delay to the flagship A380 superjumbo jet.
The 52-year-old former Saint-Gobain executive took over as Airbus CEO only three months ago, replacing Gustav Humbert – who was ousted along with EADS co-CEO Noel Forgeard because of the A380 production crisis.
Well, that’s very easy!!!
3 Landing lights, 1 per undercarriage strug!
On the top you see also a detachable anti-collision light and also the navigation light on the port wing.
As SOC wrote, the pic was taken with a Night Vision Camera, so that’s the reason the lights shine so bright and reflect on the fuselage.
