No folks, too much stickers, it looks like a plastic model, even the sensor window under the radar is painted. And the nosewheel door is missing! 😡

    F-35 Lightning II

    Folks, it’s over!

WASHINGTON – “Lightning II” will be the F-35 Joint Strike Fighter’s official nickname – a decision the Air Force chief of staff is to announce Friday at Lockheed Martin Corp.’s plant in Fort Worth.

Air Force chief Gen. T. Michael “Buzz” Moseley chose “Lightning II” for Lockheed’s new multiservice stealth fighter because of the name’s “heritage and history,” said a Pentagon official who confirmed the decision, speaking on condition of anonymity.

    ARMIGER

The ARMIGER might be a solution for the Swedish Air Force. I haven’t heard anything new about this missile in last two years (test launch etc.). It seems to be an expensive replace for the AGM-88, but in a industrial cooperation like with the EADS & Saab Bofors Dynamics Taurus KEPD 350 costs could be reduced.

The ARMIGER (Anti Radiation Missile with Intelligent Guidance & Extended Range) missile is being developed by the DIEHL BGT Defence to replace existing AGM-88 HARM missiles in the German Air Force by the end of the decade. It will be an advanced high supersonic missile intended to destroy modern and future air defenses through direct hit.

ARMIGER will feature an IR seeker, accurate Inertial Measurement Unit (INS) for navigational purposes, long range, high supersonic speed, reliability, and direct hit capability. Germany intends to provide the ARMIGER missile to other European air forces.

Lots of Rockets in the sky today, from Cape Canaveral to North Korea!!! 😀

The shut down of a credit bank in Macao last year had a big effect on the North Korean government. Mabye same solutions would solve this situation.

Has someone have the diameters of the torpedo and VLS tubes on US SNN?
I am just trying to find out, if it could start from a SSN (688I, Seawolf, Virgina, …) or does it need Trident tube on the SSGN Ohio Class?
    Thanks in advance!

    Mil Mi-40

The Mi-40 is a sort of ‘rotary-wing infantry fighting vehicle’ relying on the Mi-28’s rotor system and powerplant. The Mi-40 programme was first launched as early back as in 1983 to be suspended soon since the company went for the Mi-42 helicopter featuring the unconventional NOTAR concept to compensate the main rotor’s reactive torque. Due to the Soviet Union collapse and general economic crisis, the Mi-42 programme had to be cancelled. However, by then the Mi-28 combat helicopter had been built and passed many of its relevant tests. So, a decision was made to use its configuration for building an ‘aerial BMP’ (IFV) that was to replace the Mi-24 attack helicopter. With a crew of two, the Mi-40 will be able to haul eight assault troops in full gear, while carrying such organic weapons as automatic cannon, machineguns and ATGMs. According to the designers, the Mi-40’s unification with the Mi-28 is expected to reduce the time for its development and testing.

Proposed Mi-28 with enlarged fuselage containing cabin for eight troops, modified u/c in sponsons incorporating weapons hardpoints and additional lower fuselage barbette.

This is a mockup used in the videogame modification I work on:

    F-35 Lightning ?!

We will know it on Friday (or even on Thursday)!!! 😉 🙂

…Many people close to the program expect it to be called Lightning,” …

…The Friday ceremony will pay tribute to the AA-1, which was completed in February to become the first F-35. The test aircraft is expected to make its first flight in October from a runway at the nearby Fort Worth Naval Air Station, a joint reserve installation that replaced Carswell Air Force Base.

Lockheed Martin is also hosting an F-35 CEO conference on Thursday headed by Under Secretary of Defense Ken Krieg.

The conference is held twice-a-year to review progress on the aircraft program and includes industry leaders and foreign officials, many of whom will likely attend the Friday ceremony.
