The VH-71 is the right plattform, but the numbers should be cut down to 14-16.

What I don’t understand is why not use a CH-53 derivative? Is the rotor disk too large for the White House lawn?

A former member of the HMX-1 wrote in another forum, that a fews years ago the USMC decided to take one CH-53D up to the White House and land it on the lawn. No problem during the landing, but upon lift off, the pilot pulled a bit to much collective, and there went the roses and dirt. The White House promptly killed the idea of a VH-53D.
    That means also, that we won’t see a “VV-22” or a “VH-53K”.

None of such books was free of errors and the same is the case with the internet.
157 airplanes with color-pictures, three-view drawings, the basic dates and some info text is still worth the small money, when I see what is claimed for two ordinary aviation magazines. I agree, there is no need to buy that every year.

I agree with my previous speakers Sens and Schorsch about errors and its great price-performance ratio.
And I wouldn’t buy it every year, but since it’s published in April all the years, I get every new issue as a birthday present. 😉 🙂

    Ahh Top Gun […]
I remember in the movie at the end right before they went to combat, Capt. James Tolkien saying the Mig-28 is equipped with the exocet attack missile, Soviet jet with french anti ship missiles lol

In the German dubbed version James Tolkien says that the Mig-28 is equipped with IR AAM’s.
But I think exocet attack missile are fore more dangerous for a CVN and Exocet attack missiles sounded more cooler at that time hust after the Falkland war.

Just saw the video again, and I could see the museum ship USS Intrepid in the background.
I wouldn’t be surprised, if after the investigation the fuselage will be exhibit on a barque like as the Concorde at that museum. 😎 🙂

There’s a picture of the A320 gliding to the river? Do you have a link?

A video released by the United States Coast Guard and the National Transportation Safety Board shows the emergency landing of US Airways Flight 1549 in the Hudson River on Jan. 15, 2009.

I think I must of posted my thread the second you did, still it doesnt appear to be as serious as I first thought when I heard.

Dear mods, please merge these threads and I don’t mind who you pick as thread starter. 🙂

The only problem is those huge engine nacelles in the way, as well as the props. One careless moment, or sudden jolt to evade fire, and you may end up shooting your own aircraft.

During that video I could heard a warning signal as the gun was pointed at the engine nacelles, props and wing.
EDIt: No, that sound was only the chat signal.

I like the video also. 🙂

    Haha,
when the POTUS Bush flew to visit US Forces in Iraq for Thanksgiving 2003, the VC-25 had the callsign/code of a Gulfstream for security reasons.
Mhh, I remember the stuffed turkey was also fake.

    Hey folks,
I agree with you all, that the next presidential aircraft will be an American product.
But I had a dream last night, that the 747-8 would be cancelled or the 777/787-10 would be too small. ;):D

Hey folks, we might see a ‘technology demonstrator’ at the MAKS 2009 this year. 😉 🙂
But is Reuben F. Johnson a reliable aviation writer???

The first prototype of Sukhoi’s T-50 fighter, also known as the PAK-FA (future tactical fighter), is supposed to roll out this year. However, a new story by Reuben Johnson in the Weekly Standard supports the school of thought that the first aircraft will basically be a technology demonstrator, a new airframe wrapped around engines and systems also used on the Su-35BM, and that an operational PAK-FA is a long way in the future.
