Is this the first time a woman has become part of a military fast jet display team?

    Seems so!

Capt. Nicole Malachowski, of the 494th Fighter Squadron at Royal Air Force Lakenheath, England, joins the team as the first female demonstration pilot on any U.S. military high performance jet team.

    Didn’t we discuss this recently?

Yes, we did, I started such a thread in May.
A name for the F-35 JSF?
Maybe the mods might merger both threads soon.

….Well, regardless I would suggest Hurricane for the F-35A and Sea Hurricane for the F-35B/C. I believe several countries have used the name in the past for fighter aircraft. (Italy, Japan, and UK to name a few) Hey if we can have a Tyhpoon…….why not a Hurricane? πŸ˜€

    Good idea!!!
Tornado, Typhoon and Hurricane …. just like finest moment in the RAF

    SSBJ

Still, I can see a SSBJ having its first flight between 2015 and 2020.
Supercruise engines and boom reduction from the QSP-Programm and so on.
    Maybe something like this:

The Russians regularly seed the clouds with – iodine I think – to precipitate rain and clear the skies.

They have done it at airshows (or so it was rumoured) that I have attended at MAKS, near Moscow

    Ken

And on all other state celibrations like this year on VE-Day (May 9th in Russia).

Vietnam Airlines signs up to buy four Boeing 787 Dreamliners

    Just in the news:

Vietnam Airlines signs up to buy four Boeing 787 Dreamliners

HANOI, Vietnam – Vietnam Airlines will buy four Boeing 787 Dreamliners as part of a plan to expand its fleet to meet increasing travel demands, an airline spokesman said Friday.

Prime Minister Phan Van Khai has instructed the state-owned airline to complete the contract, which is expected to be signed during his visit to the United States on June 19-25, said spokesman Nguyen Chan.

Chicago-based Boeing Co. has said the wide-body jetliners will be delivered to the communist country in 2010. The deal is valued at about $500 million at list prices, although airlines usually negotiate discounts.

Khai will be the first Vietnamese prime minister to travel to Washington. Vietnam and the U.S. are former foes that normalized diplomatic relations 10 years ago.

German sources write, that the contract will be signed in June.
I presume at Paris Air Show 2005.

Airbus denies A380 delays linked to production problem at Hamburg plant

IMHO, Airbus France and Airbus Germany are arguing, which plant should take over the responsibility for the delay.
It’s has also more to do with the new Airbus CEO’s.

HAMBURG (AFX) – Airbus has denied a press report that the delay in delivery dates of its A380 superjumbo is linked to production problems at one of its
German plants and not to safety or quality issues.

“That (the press report) is not right,” said Arndt Hellmann, a spokesman for Airbus’ German operations. “We delivered our (aircraft) parts to Toulouse on time.”

Earlier, the International Herald Tribune, citing sources, reported that the
Airbus plant in Hamburg failed to properly assemble some components, which will mean a delay of as much as six months in the assembly of the aircraft at the Airbus factory in Toulouse.

The Hamburg production problems are not the only reason for the delay, which
Airbus announced Wednesday, but they aggravated the normal snags that often affect aircraft projects, the newspaper added.
