I have some footage from a DVD showing those Concorde training sessions from Shannon, including a nice shot of one climbing out over nearby Bunratty Castle and Durty Nellies pub where we stopped for a pint yesterday. Here’s the same angle the video was shot from, just imagine Conorde tearing across the top of frame.
That’s were I had my first pint(s) of Guinness ๐
My aunt treated me! ๐
– And my dad was trown out of Dirty Nellies in the 70’s after dancing on tables. ๐
Well, my father won’t talk about it. It was the time before he knew my (Irish) mum! ๐ ๐ Don’t say, that Germans are not funny!!!
Anyway, today is his birthday! ๐
So I’m offline for today!

In the october issue of the german mag Flug-Revue
there was a report over the Eurofighter at Laage!
In December, the first 11 one-seater Eurofighters should arrive at Laage.
Major Kleinheyer, captian of 2./73 “S”, says, “that with this aircraft the GAF goes not only new ways in training and tactics, but also especially in logistics and technics.”
They have at moment problems with the ESS and GSS (Engineering Support System and Ground Support System).
But that’s all “Kinderkrankheiten” as the Major says.
Until next year only the flight teachers will be trained, and from 2006 rookies from Sheppard(GAF basic flight training in Texas,USA) will arrive at Laage for EF2k training.
From September 2005 34 (22 one seaters/12 double seaters) EF2k will be station at Laage.
Let’s see and hope!
The Spiegel is tradionally leftwing anti millitary.
And Anti EF2K , nearly once a month, there’s an article against the EF2k.
Finances, technical problems and so on.

A boy from County Clare
Well, Ren Frew, you made my day!!! ๐ ๐ ๐
Born in Co. Clare, now living in Germany, it was great this morning to see your report on this forum.
My mum worked during the 70’s at Shannon Duty Free and my dad worked at a factory near the airport. My uncle and his sons still work there!
A month ago I flew with Aer Lingus from Duesseldorf to Shannon via Dublin.
From DUB to SHN I flew with a A330. The aircraft was nearly empty, because it came fron the States first to Dublin, then flew on to Shannon 2 hours later.
Next time, I should take a cam with me. ๐ก
That’s Aer Lingus policy, serving their two Hub’s with one flight.
As a kid, I flew with a B742 from DUB to SHN.
As a teenager, my uncle showed me and his son around the airport.
We were at the tower, the old terminal, the fire brigade and so much more.
I even remember walking around the aircrafts, like the pilots, ๐ and we we drove fast up the runway. more ๐
But since 9-11 such tours are forbidden. ๐ ๐ ๐
The long runway and the nearby ocean is very important for the airport.
I remember, that the Concorde trained takeoffs and landing approching years ago. My mum, at that time working at the Duty Free, went on one such flight. She nearly got heart-attack! ๐
Now you see some AN-124’s at SHN.
During the Gulf War III, the USAF used Shannon as a base for their cargo and air refueling planes (C-5, C-17, KC-135, KC-10 etc.).
Next time, you’re in Shannon and Limerick, you should visit the Foynes Flying Boat Museum.
It’s a nice museum about flying boat service – and the history of Irish Coffee ๐ ๐ .
Go raibh mรญle maith agat!

Engines exhaust F/A-37 “Talon”
Hi folks,
since google posted pic’s from the F/A-37 “Talon” 3 months ago, one pic is on my computer’s desktop.
This weekend, while playing a computer game, I switch back to Windows with the ALT and TAB keys. Well, what did I see?
My computer game was very dark, so brightend up the screen.
Swichting back to Windows, the desktop was also brightend up.
Now I could see the aft section of the F/A-37 “Talon” .
Especially the engines exhaust was quite interesting!
As you see there are 14 pipes each around one engine exhaust .
What are these pipes for?
1. a secondary engine system like Rockets or Ram/Scram -Jets
2. a weapon system
3. more likely, an exhaust cooling system.
Here some information from http://www.globalsecurity.org
…According to the back story, the F/A-37 “Talon” is a Mach 3.5, super cruise stealth fighter/bomber/interceptor with a 4000nm [NM, ๐ ] range. Top speed is somewhere in the Mach 4+ range. …
The exhaust reminds me very munch of the Mig-31 “Firefox”.
I know, these both aircraft are fiction, but why not talk about them?

Ibraim Ferrer
I read this morning in the newspaper, that the cuban musician
Ibraim Ferrer
(from Wim Wendersโs documentary film โBuena Vista Social Clubโ )
was also not allowed to entry the USA this February. ๐ก
Next, Bono from the Irish band U2 will be invited to the White House, and also “denied entry to the USA”. ๐
Can you then compare the Su-30MKI/MKK with the SU-35UB?
I mean, is the SU-35UB only a trainer or is also ready for combat???
