So, now that the A330 has won KC-X, what about more A330-based aircraft to replace B707s?
What about AWACS, JSTARS, ELINT, TACAMO, &c? Any plans published?
Would only be logical to standardize the large combat support platform.
The E-8C will likely get the new MP-RTIP radar from the cancelled E-10 program.
The first E-3 scheduled for conversion to E-3G (Block 40/45) is to be completed by 2009.
😀 The best April joke so far!!!!
BTW, Ken, have you got any cockpit pictures? I wonder how the toilet looks like . Maybe from the Su-34? 😉 :diablo: 😀
Hey guys, lent is just over for me, and I am getting refuelled with good Italian red wine. 😉 :dev2: 😀
Well, I not sober anymore, my memory is quite dull, so please answer my few questions
Do all KC-10’s have a centerline hose?
How much in % of the USAF Tanker fleet have wingtip refuelling pods?
BTW, happy Easter, Sláinte, , Cheers and Prost! *hicks* 😮
Anyone else hear rumor that KC-45 wont be able to refuel V-22? If it cant, then I’m sure 767 or KC-135 cant either.http://www.marketwire.com/mw/release.do?id=835234
Yes, I saw that info on the anti-Eads blog this afternoon. The 4 comments just tell the truth.
In near future I can see Zeppelin NT’s flying (better “driving” 😉 ) as a tourist attraction over Arab and Asian megacities (like Dubai for an example).
I meant the A330 MRTT F-WWYL now. Ain’t that one destined for the Luftwaffe?
No, the Luftwaffe have only 4 A310 as MRTT’s. No A330 are or will be bought.
The A330 MRTT (F-WWYL) ‘Future Strategic Airtanker’ appeared at RIAT 2003 in yellow primer to promote Airbus’s Future Strategic Tanker Aircraft. It simulated air to air refuelling with two German Tornado IDS.
This aircraft went later on as pax jet to serve with EVA Air as B-16303.
Buran to Speyer
The russian space shuttle Buran (002 / OK-GLI) is on its way to the Technik MUSEUM SPEYER. Since the beginning of March the space shuttle is on a deep water ship on its way to Germany. At the museum it will be in a new Museums Hall on display; weather safe there rather than other airplanes outside like the Boeing 747-200.
The Buran will be the main exhibit in the new space exhibition “Apollo and beyond” from summer 2008 on.

The sister museum Sinsheim Auto & Technik Museum is quite near the museum in Speyer. Sinsheim shows as example the TU-144 and Concorde outside.
From my records:
[…]
A330 – Australia, Germany, Yemen
A340 – Brunei, Egypt, Jordan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia
A340(-300)’s for Germany, not A330’s. see my last post.
2 A343 and 2 A319CJ for GAF in near future
The German Air Force (Luftwaffe) will get 2 former Lufthansa A340-300 for VIP Service from 2010 on. German politicians want more comfort on long-haul flights and less tank-stops.
The 2 A310 VIP will not be converted into MR(T)T’s, so they will be sold. It is also said that the CO2 reduction of the A340 is much lower than the one of the A310.

DER SPIEGEL (07th March 2008) – Bundeswehr will im Eiltempo neue Regierungsflugzeuge anschaffen
The GAF has already ordered 2 A319CJ’s for VIP Service.
[…]The EJ200 was only an option considered by Saab, but they selected the F414 for obvious reasons. It was said that the MAKO might use a version of the EJ200, but I haven’t heared anything new about the MAKO for a long time now, don’t know if this aircraft will ever become a reality. […]
EADS originally intended to use the Eurojet EJ200 on the MAKO, but decided then to use General Electric F414M, which is a slightly derated version (at 75 kN) of the standard F414. But last information about the Mako is over 2 years old.
The AMX International consortium is offering ItAF, a re-engined Ghibli; the Eurojet EJ200 (without afterburner) could increase take-off and air-to-air performances and could allow pilots to fully exploit AMX good qualities.

The German President Horst Köhler decided today, that a new “Medal for Exceptional Bravery” should be created. 🙂
IMHO, the better Decision!
The Iron Cross has still wartime associationshere in Germany.
But the Iron Cross can be still worn in public. Due to german law the Nazi swastika has to be removed! In the 50’s and 60’s Men whore the Iron Cross and even the Knight’s Cross at public occasions, but after the German student movement during the late 1960s in Germany (68′ Generation) nobody with a Iron Cross wanted to be put in the (wrong) right corner.
With that we should bring back our own swastika
But If I’m not totally wrong, isn’t the imperial German war flag (with iron cross) used lot by current neo-nazi/nationalist fundamentalist in Germany? And that they had plans to ban those too along with swastika and assorted?
Yes, the former German Left-green government even wanted to ban the swastika in the EU. But that was rejected by the EU parliament.
The Finnish Air Force still has the swastika on thier Flag.
Every culture should decide for itself.

Hey folks,
the best way to discuss with a “Lobbiest” is just to ignore him. Answering him back is just giving him more (jet) fuel. 🙂
So back to topic,
here a new video!
