“Proposed,” being the operative word. When he means F-15F, he doesnt neccesarily mean that particular F-15F; just as a default, F being after E and all. Designations can be reused, and most likely will if this new concept ever comes of fruition.

It could work, methinks. If I’m not mistaken, the Gripen managed to land on a carrier in a simulator without a hook Still, I doubt the gripen’s airframe could withstand carrier ops without a major redesign which, as we all know, costs money, a major factor in of itself when considering it as an F-35B replacement.
