    COMPARISONS

    Hi,

£30 thats far less than a ticket to a some rock concerts/festivals, Womad is £50+ for the Saturday, I don’t know about V, or Tea in the park, and of course Glastonbury is far more (if you can even get a ticket).

The Royal Opera is anything between about £25 and £150, I had to pay £35 each to take my girlfriend to the theatre on new years eve. Our local Cinema is £7 for a 2hour film, a reasonable meal in a restraunt is about £20 per head – I could go on, but on this perspective £30 for a full day seems pretty reasonable to me.

    Steve.

Comparisons, Comparisons, you could cover any price increase with a comparison, and pop/rock stars are greedy b65465ds aswell, look at my example of monies worked out and think about it before you open your trap.

    FACTS AND FIGURES

Now if I recall correctly last year the entrance tickets were £27?

So if the tickets had not gone up for 2006 you’d be looking at £363.00

And this makes a difference to you?

    Moggy

Yes is damn well does make a difference to me and I am sure it will a difference to other people in my predicament.

    Now let me explain

Last years admission 1 X Disabled Daughter £8.00
Last years admission 1X My wife as Carer £8.00
Last years admission 1 X Disabled (ME) Back broen in 4 places £8.00
    Total £24.00

    Multiplied by 2 days = £48.00

    This years admission £22.00 X 3 = £66.00 X 2 days =£132.00

£108.00 difference, so is does make a difference, see what I mean……… 😡

    PRICES

£60.00 for a ticket each day. For that you get entrance to the IWM, ground entertainment and a fantastic airshow. But you’re expecting to spend £100 on beer which after all only goes down the sewers?

Perhaps you’ve got your priorities wrong?

    Regards,

    kev35

    Kev

This is a family occassion, I think you have been to few over the years. After a hot day at an Airshow perhaps for 13 hours, one may expect a beer, know what I mean, DOH! 😡

There is an awfull lot of back pedling on here, you should have all thought about what you were posting the other night, as it has nothing to do with individuals what TFCs business is, all you have done is thrown a spanner in the works. If TFC wants to tell the world what they are doing they will release a press release in the mean time keep your damned noses out of other people business. Maybe you would like to go round Mr Grays house and have a nosey through his bedroom drawers and take pictures of his bathroom and post the pictures on here and critisize his colour coinordation of his curtains.

    Dis-pleased

    Rob

Don’t bother replying to this post, although you probably will as someone will want the last word, but in this case its ME……. 😡

well, if one is going to use Ford standard colours to paint a Spitfire, may I suggest either of these two catching schemes?

Personally, I fancy the red one with the Mexico stripes; reminds me a little of G-FIRE…

    cheers

Are you then suggesting the diesel would require a much coarser prop, or a gearbox?

    Moggy

I would thikn it could stand a higher ratio with maybe a turbocharger fitted, have you ever felt the pull on a 150 b.h.p. Golf TDi in 6th gear, I think, can’t remember the Golf pulls about 1100 rpm at 50 mph, and still pulls likes a train, unbeleivable really

Rob Beard, you are spot on with most of your observations. There is one point that some people are not necessarily aware of. Most aeroengines rev out between 2600 and 3000, be they petrol or modern diesel. There are exceptions, but they are few. And no doubt people will post what they are. (Rotax two and four strokes, Jabiru, etc)

How about this then if someone is brave enough.

    Cessna 172

    Fit Turbocharged Diesel engine

Fit 14 foot 4 bladed HAMILTON STANDARD PROP

    Extend the undercart abit

    And there you have it

    CLONK CLONK

    .

. And with certain manufacturers, there isn’t a TBO (time between overhauls) but a TBR (time between replacement) which are again more expensive.

The diesel engine produces alot more torque at a lower RPM, if you run a diesel car yourself have a look at the rev counter on the dash, normally it will cut out at about 5,000 RPM all the power is lower down, where as in a petrol car you normally have to rev the Haddon Halls off it to keep it on song, diesels have a much longer life span, I have not gone into it but I would bet a diesel in a plane would probably cruise at maybe 1200 to 1600 rpm/low down power, so, and I am only guessing if a continental engine in a Cessna cruises at 2400 to 3200rpm in reality the log burner should last twice as long and use less fuel.

Nice site, Love the photo’s you got there, As to the question “Why can’t they fly that low anymore?”, Low flying like that was a skill only Ray and Mark seemed able to do with ease, A talent and artistry that few pilots have, Ray was flying this way until the end.
So yes the good old days came to a end but the memories of legends like Ray and Mark will never end.

STOP, STOP,STOP THIS UTTER CREEPING TRASH

Putting this sought of garbage on here is not going to prove a damn point, there are loads off pilots out their as good as Ray and Mark Hanna, if they were here they would most certainly agree, unfortunately they are now up in the blue yonder with my Dad. Stop this confounded creeping. Can you imagine what all the other display pilots feel like reading your comments, and will they try a little bit harder to prove a point. Let these two lads have some peice for gods sake and keep them in your memory
