Coming it from a slightly different angle as I probably want different stuff from a aerojumble from what I have heard. I have zero interest in buying parts of aircraft so aerojumbles offer only a little interest. I do, however like buying books, magazines, photos and models. I only normally attend the Popham event, but am there anyway for the fly-in. I enjoy this because its the big traders as well as the small guys. I picked up some very rare aircraft logbooks and rare copies of 1950’s ‘uk air pilot’. I have never really bothered with the other jumbles due distance and general lack of interest. However I like the car boot idea as I always have a few bits to get rid of but never enough to justify paying more than £20 for a stall. Do the dedicated aerojumbles also have stalls selling new books, models etc or is it just parts, flying attire etc?
1966 vintage Canadian Navy Seaking 12429 passed Farnborough towards London at 15:55, out of Odiham.

I nwas at the west end of Farnborough today and it was heaving, must have been 3000+ people around Eelmoor Bridge and parking chaos. It was one of those moments to savor. It was in 1952 that VX770 made its debut at Farnborough that stunned the aviation world. It was pleasing that 63 years later the last flight in the South incorporated Farnborough. Sad that that is the last time I will see a Vulcan in the air, and sad that it was over so quickly. However it has been a great 7 years.
I think if we were to start again with the RAFM sites neither Cosford, or Hendon would be chosen. Yes both are accessible from our two biggest cities but neither are particularly suitable sites. Gaydon would have been a great site in the Midlands and Biggin Hill for London. However we are not going to see any changes in the locations, maybe ever. I personally would like to see Hendon exclusivity concentrate on the 1919-45 period. We could move the Dakota, Argus, Catalina and the German and Japenese WW2 aircraft. Of course Cosford would gain out of this and there should remain some representative WW1 and WW2 aircraft there.
Dakota over Farnborough north bound, USAAF scheme, invasion striped and coded L4, lovely sound.

I visited a couple of months ago. I prefer the old Graham White exhibition style without the suspended aircraft and all the technological gizmos, but then again I am a fan of aircraft being in hangars type look rather than a structured museum. Milestones is past its sell by date IMHO and should be rotated every 10 years or so. Bomber Command as dark as ever with too many gaps that have been there too long. The original museum was well lit and laid out. I too long for the old galleries. I well remember the last time I went up there before they closed. In a dusty corner cabinet I found the original Trophies from the MacRobertson and Schlessinger air races from the 1930’s. As a kid I loved the dioramas and the RFC workshop. I guess those sort of exhibitions are just not 21st century enough for the museum? Would be nice to have some info from the new management on their 10 year plan?

A quick google shows that The Aeroplane Collection think it has been passed to Shuttleworth?

I think at Goodwood on Tuesday no commentary is needed, just the ‘battle of Britain’ soundtrack on a loop!LOL

Over Farnborough 10/9 north bound T-6 in Portuguese scheme as 1741 supposedly G-HRVD, new one for me.

When you look at the price of most of the cars in the auction these are all a bargain! If somebody can arrange a lottery win on Friday I will buy the lot. I would be surprised to see the Vampire get very high with the ‘bad press’ for classic jets.
I know legends accept visitors, some of the most interesting foreign visitors of the year. Oh for when the old PFA rally attracted 100+ foreigners each year.
I just wanted to chuck in a curve ball with a question. I am not a photographer but am a spotter. I used to attend legends mainly for the visiting aircraft as the show aircraft don’t change that much. I am thinking of going next year to the naughty field for the first time mainly to view the aircraft parked on that side, how close can you get to them? I will probably off to see the visitors at Cambridge and Fowlmere by the time the fling starts. I know some of you will be amazed by this but im simply more into light aircraft than warbirds.
The Spanish patrulla aguila team commentator at Yeovilton this year could have anesthetized a elephant zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. All I want from the commentary is whats up next and some brief notes about whose flying and a little on the history of the aircraft. Commentary should take up no more than 1/3 of the display slot.
