You have pretty much zero chance of seeing this. It has been in store for 30 years. Unless they have a suddern change of heart the only time this is accessible is on the open days in September
They were all in the static at Sywell yesterday.

Looks like a great event, how easy is it to get to event from the airport terminal? May look at this for a visit next year ?
I see its now registered to a Cheltenham address? Any idea where it is based and weather we are likely to see it out and about at any events this year?
Will it be at legends…. I’ll get me coat:dev2:
Not a great shot of the Blackbushe Lancasters from September 1955 but Im guessing the penultimate time they would appear in public? Of course I think photography was still banned at the RAF BofB airshows?

Would love to see the Proctor in the civil scheme. But either way would just love to see it out and about, too many vintage aircraft are never seen at events like Popham, Sywell, North Weald etc
Heard that XV208 was scrapped today at Cambridge, sad end for such a colorful air frame.
Returning to the question posed by the OP: I would like to propose an aircraft that entered RAF service in the immediate Post war (WW2) period and served for the next 20 years or so as Transport; Para drop; VIP; Flying classroom; reconaisance; and possibly light bombing and Aerial Shouting platform. It served in all theatres and in virtually every conflict involving the RAF during 1948-70 period. The RAF received about 250 and there is I believe only one complete survivor, displayed, but NOT by the RAFM
So, what is it and why isn’t there one at Hendon or Cosford?
Regards
Bill
aaah the mighty Vickers Valetta. Sadly like its civil counterpart the Valetta has not suffered well in preservation what with the Sunderland example going up in flames. I think its such a shame that Hendon does not have a single Transport Command aircraft.
Douglas Boston would be nice, what ever happened to the one that was on rebuild many moons ago for the RAFM?
That is excellent, and very imaginative, not sure it would be allowed in the UK? All they need now is a Tempest to shoot it down with!
D-FLAK just returned over Farnborough southbound, due to become G-OLEG but nothing official yet, lovely sound.

I visited both St Mawgan and Coventry last year. The St Mawgan collection was hard to find as I was not familiar with this big base, not a sign in sight. To me they had to commit to one site or the other otherwise this would happen. There must have been some sort of big incentive to move there in the first place? Maybe the airport has a maintenance operator who wants the hangar and will pay top dollar for it?
