Yes it is worth a visit for a couple of hours. Some interesting aircraft, including the enormous Cody replica, and some well planned and informative displays.
This afternoon was surprised to see bright red Hiller UH-12 N5317V northbound on the M3 just before the M25. I was going the other was as per normal but it looked in excellent condition.

The main source will be the squadron ORB’s held at the national archives at Kew. Many are available online, for a fee. Although these generally record serials, but not always codes and each operation carried out. You may find the odd website dedicated to some squadrons that contain this information.
Some news from the RAFM posted today, no mention of a replica but great to see these parts in safe hands.

Any ideas on the 3 fighters and a twin engined bomber in the background? Fighters appear radial engined so probably Fokker DXXI or Curtiss Hawk? Bomber might be a Dornier 17?
Worth every penny IMHO. Hopefully Lufthansa will be busy running pleasure flights in a few years, shall I start queuing now! Its a shame more of the ‘legacy’ airlines don’t take their heritage more seriously.
As Graham said there were services to the likes of the Scottish Isles, Scilly Isles and Isle of man but nowhere else. BOAC operated very limited overseas services(Ireland, Lisbon,Sweden and the US). Internal services were started in 1945 by those that operated the limited services but these were all merged into BEA in 1946. The RAF operated many scheduled services in 1945-6 pending the setting up of BEA as lend lease Dakotas could not be used on civil flights.
I have always thought that this museum is one of the worlds best and most understated. Even the building its self is amazing and it is a must to do when in Brussels.
Saw the Ju52 flying over Farnborough around 11am at about 800ft making a lovely sound. Mrs asked what it was and when I said it was the aircraft that I shot off to White Waltham to see last Sunday she just gave me one of the looks!
Does any of the original EXF actually remain after its several rebuilds? Would love to see what it looked like when flown back from its wartime storage in France.
Very interesting stuff, has anybody any general info in exhibited Bf109’s? I ask as a friend saw one in Camberley,Surrey around 1941 but have not found anything .
What looked and sounded like a Junkers 52 (or Spanish built derivative) over West Wickham at around 5pm on a line from Biggin Hill towards central London.
Regards,
Dan
HB-HOT a genuine Ju52 arrived at White Waltham at 17:00 and is covered up for a nightstop.
Great work from the RAFM, that is what they should be doing, not designing hideous buildings at hendon!

Great quote from RAFM twitter “We’ll have it flying in a week” says a delighted Darren Priday of the RAF Mus. Er, probably not. But smiles all round…”
Looking forward to this event but will there be any public airside access, or will there be the normal Lasham ‘lock out’ for enthusiasts??
All this delay is just crazy, just build the bl$%^dy runway at LHR. What nobody ever brings up is to move the UK main hub from LHR to Essex will involve closing west London. What are you going to do with the c100,000 jobs that depend on LHR? You are looking at large parts of the population of Slough, Hounslow, Feltham etc and further out into berks,Surrey, hants etc. I know many people in my area that have good jobs at LHR, what happerns to all those people?? There is also a nice clear area to the south of LHR next to the A30, put the 4th runway and terminal 6 there.
The people who did the report have clearly not visited Luton. Yes there are 50% of runway slots available but no stands as it is built on top of a hill and there is not enough room. Only Stansted has and real runway and terminal capacity but people my side of London will not use the airport due traffic on the M25. I will use Bournemouth and Southampton over STN.
