Your logic is sound on that subject, but bear in mind that the flight tests were all done with the twin seats of either type, not with the single seats. In general one would expect that the discrepancy in performance between the singles and twin isn’t too big, so that the performance is largely representative. But in the case of the Rafale and Typhoon twins the discrepancy is in fact considerable opposed to the single seats. Or in other words the twin seat Rafale is better designed. Maybe we’ll learn more about it in the future.
I see your point and it is a good one. The discrepancy should be much lower for single seaters than for two seaters, however, I doubt the swiss would be so stupid as to forget about this in their report. But you never know. Most people here believe they’re spoiled brats who want the biggest hot rod instead of what’s better for Swizerland (Gripen). Nevermind the biggest hotrod there would be the Typhoon and no the Rafale.

There is also the point that the degree of truly carefree handling conferred by ALSR allows the pilot to concentrate more of his attentions on the fight, which can be an absolute game changer in the WVR fight.
I beg to differ. The last gold driving license test in gran turismo III is ridiculously hard because you can’t disable the driving help (anti lock brakes and traction control), while you could go much faster with no helps at all and go gold quite easily without.

Yes it does, but fuel fraction is just one part of the range equation. Ultimately I could imagine that the Rafale enjoys a marginal edge on internal fuel, but there are factors which may in fact swing the results. Thus far I haven’t seen any figures or information which would suggest that the Rafale enjoys an edge here, but nothing specific to suggest the opposite either. The only hint we may have is the Swiss evaluation, but I’m not sure whether the “figures” presented there are reflecting the single seat variants or the twins. The single seat Typhoon holds around 250 kg more fuel than the Rafale C, but the Rafale B holds around 150-200 kg more fuel than the Typhoon twin seater.
I don’t think the swiss would go for two seaters, so it would be inane to compare twin seaters in their report. Even with an advantage of 200kg more fuel, the Typhoon still is heavier, so its fuel fractions remain inferior (everything else being equal). Add, 1 fuel tank, which is probaby the bare minimum a plane would fly with, and you get the same fuel load for a quite lighter fighter.

Think about it. How long did they stick to the F35C scenario? Didn’t they know what an EMALS cost prior to that? Why couldn’t they go for a steam catapult if EMALS is too expensive? How long did it take to switch back to F35B?
Just long enough to sell their Harrier fleet. That’s how long. I don’t think that in the meantime they discovered suddenly the price or complexity of EMALS, nothing magical happened to overturn the decision. Think about it.

In a dogfight the planes usually lose a lot of altitude because manoeuvering makes you lose a lot of speed. So the easy way is to convert altitude into speed, or have very very powerful engines. When you’re at low level you can’t do that anymore, so the speed of the fight decreases. I don’t think one could keep much more than 300/350 kts while manoeuvering at low alt.

But the F35 achieved most of its objectives: ruin the development of european (and other) fighters by sucking up R&D project.
Look at how the Typhoon didn’t get developed for AtoG because most of the partners were on the F35. Imagine what the Tyhpoon could be if half the money that went into F35 had been poured into it? It would already have an AESA, Storm Shadow/Taurus, EPWII/III and PWIV, Brimstone & most importantly CFTs.
Or look how the UK sold all their Harriers right after they switched to F35C for the price of, what, 1 LRIP F35, only to revert their decision back to F35B just after the deal was done. With a VSTOL carrier, the UK could have operated their harriers until the F35B was both operational and affordable. I think the switch to F35C was only a temporary measure to justify the sale of the Harriers to the US, to force the UK to buy F35Bs ASAP when their carrier gets ready. There are some big time traitors in the UK MOD.

but even with 1 tank it carries 250L more than the EFT with 1 tank.

I don’t think anyone would use the 2000L tanks for AtoA work. But even with the smaller tanks, the 3 supersonic tanks of the Rafale carry 750L more fuel than the 3 tanks of the Typhoon.
And those 750L extra fuel sure can come in handy, especially when you have a more range clean in the first place.
