It hope they get a greenish camouflage paint. It will look nice over the rain forests. “Tropical Rafale”. 😎
Me too! We also need an aegean ghost camo by the way.

At the risk of getting warned for not writing on topic I must say, very well spoken.
Consider yourself warned :diablo:
I don’t think the high lies in the flight quality, but rather on all the systems that have yet to be developped.
Rafale has all its systems already operational or at least already funded for the future upgrades.

My understanding is that OSF consisted of one dual band IR channel (LW and MW?) AND a TV channel.
The obsolescence issue arose when the components to build the IR channel were not available on the open market, and would cost too much to manufacture again, so it was decided to go with new technologies. They decided to cut it until the next technology gap (IR matrix?) was reached to improve it to OSF-NG standard
In the meanwhile operationals thought the TV channel was too valuable not to have, hence they decided to provide the Rafale with TV only OSF-IT as a stopgap measure.

Read the last paragraph of my post above again. I was suggesting a supply route for Black Shaheen via the UAE.
I was replying to the “who mentionned storm shadow”.
Well I did :diablo:
Come on if you are getting such numbers of Dash 9, you want to buy storm shadows/scalp or at the very least black shaheen.

Unlikely, I know, but let us imagine that France & Taiwan make a deal for all the UAE & Qatari Mirage 2000s, with Meteor integrated & supplied under the counter, & (for a price), everything supplied that Taiwan needs to support the aircraft itself.
It would be a good move but if France refused to sell Taiwan new Mica missiles due to chinese pressure, I don’t see how they would sell Meteor and storm shadows.
But I agree would make a great deal of sense from taiwan to purchase the UAE/Quatar fleet, and maybe negociate to get some extra armament through the UAE. I wonder how the meteor integration would get done though. Maybe France would do it covertly.

IR channel upgrade has been postponed because they are waiting for a technology breakthrough which is going to make it much more efficient; I can’t remember what technology it is though; maybe someone can help here.
Besides, pilots can use the Mica IR sensor as an IRST.
In due time the OSF-IT (Tv only) will be replaced by the OSF-NG with the new IR channel.

BTW the SAS need this:

So you guys are still with that old rehashed article about the NH90? Aren’t you aware that the issues have been long fixed?

Oh yeah the hornet wins thanks to its 65+° AoA
I forgot about that
Wasn’t there also a question of money? 1.4 million USD per plane or so?
1.4 million USD per plane for that? And people seriously expect the whole thing to cost 60 million per unit?
Do I laugh now or do I make the rolleyes smiley first?

A few days ago the info went out that Afghanistan had about 1,5 trillion worth of wealth in its soil, including gold, rare metals and so on.
Many of the documents that went out dated from the soviet era… so it’s not really breaking news.
Quite funny that the info was out on the beginning of the world cup too.

What a lot of noise for 11 odd lbs. The JSF designers must be desperate to cut weight 😀
How about they retain the valves and train only <100 lbs girls as pilots (brunettes preferably).
