    ,
as i said in a post above the rafale has high lift wings, its a nice plane, but lets not get carried away, i dont think 6 aasm weigh 9 tonns

how much does 6 AASM, 2/3 2000L tanks, and 4/6 mica weight?

    Or 2 Scalp + 3 2000L tanks + 4 Mica ?

and you were doing so well until you put this bit in, abilities not unique to rafale and some planes do it better

Well Arthuro is not making anything up. It was said in the press release that during ATLC the Rafale was capable of detecting some SAM threats that the US F16CJ couldn’t. And in case you’re not aware of it, the CJ is dedicated to the SEAD role.

So “this bit” is justified as far as I’m concerned.

You may be right about that, but then again it doesn’t do anything to alleviate the fact that such considerations have nothing to do with a technical evaluation. Rendering the “leak” very dubious to say the least.

I see almost exactly the same story, put out by AFP:
“Folha said the air force preferred the Swedish model because it was less costly and potentially had better commercial possibilities. And profit margins on future local production of the French jet were theoretically less interesting to local aviation giant Embraer, the Folha report added.”

What exact ‘FAB technical evaluation’ cares about it’s commercial possibilities and profit margins for Embraer’

That’s exactly the reason why I find those leaks fishy. Why would the FAB care about that? Why should that rate in technical report anyway?

Look at how well the fixed price guarantees worked with the A400M program.

Once embraer and other brazilian industrials are going to be involved and sweden wants to renegociate or cancel the gripen NG, will the brazilian gvt just ditch it to go with SH or Rafale?

    I smell BS.

Why would the AF care if the Rafale is more expensive if the gvt is ready to buy them the same number of airframes?

And how exactly would they know the cost of the Gripen NG if it isn’t even yet developped?

Besides I thought the FAB needed planes FAST, and they’d be willing to wait for a plane to be developped instead of chosing an already proven one?

Give me a break all those supposed leaks are definately fishy. Wake me up when there’s a comment from some NAMED official in the FAB.

Is this the first “combat” use of whichever it is?
    😀

And no it’s not its first combat use

LOL.. There only can be three reasons.
    1. you got enough money and enough will to get more but the F-22 sucks
    2. you got enough money and F-22 is good but they are no more needed because they lack a role
    3. F-22s are good and very needed but you are simply broke.

    4. LM wants the US to buy as many JSF as possible so they can flood the export market with as cheap F35s as possible to try and kill the european fighter markets.
