1 the Gripen never won the evaluation, it was forced onto the army by beancounting politicos. The Rafale clearly won the competigion.
2 the second part of the report included the Gripen demo or MS21 & not the Gripen C, but its uncertainty factor lowered its grades at the time so that would have to be taken in consideration.

The MS21 tested in the 2nd stage is no Gripen C, and still scored lower than the F18C & much lower than even the older Rafale used in the first stage in every category. I don’t know if it had the relocated landing gear with the extra fuel & an F414 though.

Well the UK could have bought them and then sold them for 150 million USD the year after as a cost cutting measure.

Have 2 built by China and trade it for 4 Yasen class subs.

Then you can lower unit cost of Yasen class and pop them out at an accelerated rate.

Look even if the Scalp’s range was 1000km, selling it to Egypt would be like a drop in the ocean of clusterfnebs from the various US administrations wrt to security in the middle east.

So you may ride your high horse in another thread thank you very much.

Sorry cream, but it’s not about the US trying to block Rafale sales. I think more than a few people on here (and governments) would see throwing in cruise missiles (in violation of a treaty France signed, and was renegotiated after previous issues with Scalp/Storm shadow sales to Gulf states), as irresponsible.

Answer is clear: the best dogfighter ever created. F16 . The fighting falcon.

Sorry but I think the F18 has to win there. Best dogfighter is the Mig 29 btw.

    1. Mirage 2000
    2. 36-48 Mig 31s & the rest consisting of Mirage 2000s.

I reckon the F18 would be an excellent choice for 1. but I’m not buying American.

The nerve…. after all France was bullied into signing the MTCR. Or wait, they were willing signatories until they wanted to export cruise missiles, I forget.

I’m sure it’s in everyone’s interest to sell cruise missiles to a country that recently went through several government upheavals. Maybe throw in a few ICBM’s and watch Rafale sales go through the roof.

A US dude (I just typoed IS instead of US) giving moral lessons about the middle east.

    Thanks for the laugh!

BTW if true WTF were they thinking putting some US components in the Scalp?

I found his posts very informative.

I think he disproved quite convincingly that some of coopers claims were total bogus.

The A4 is dead sexy but I think it’s too slow to rely only on it as a fighter. Especially in the interceptor role.

Hi-Lo Mix of Mig 25 and A4 and now you’re talking.

    As it had been previously
    the case in Iraq, reconnaissance
    missions were flown first, but
    Rafales soon switched to kinetic
    engagements to disrupt Daesh
activities in Syria and to support
    Syrian democratic forces.
    Until

My childhood dream was to be a fighter pilot. Now I’m glad I’m not.
