Has anyone who believes that the F35 can supercruise at c mach 1.2 explained why it can only do this for 150 miles? What brick wall does the F35 encounter after 150 miles? Lack of fuel. not good in the interceptor role. Skin temperature problems, also not good in the interceptor role, or is there another particular reason for the 150 miles only supercruise ability in level flight?

the thing is you cant change the doppler shift on the original reflected signal , you can only change the doppler effect on the signal that your jammer send out , which mean the signal that get filter out in that case is the Ground clutter and your jammer’s signal , not the reflected return from your aircraft
Why couldn’t an AESA replicate a doopler shift created by an AESA? Why couldn’t an ESM system detect a doppler shift that a radar is supposed to be able to detect?
If an AESA radar can do it, an ESM of equivalent technology will be able to both detect & replicate it.

The 6 mark was estimated F18 performance, so any contestant that scored over 6 was considered superior to the F18 IIRC.
Well they came to the conclusion that the prospective Gripen MS21 was not better than their Hornets.

For fneb’s sake, shoulder fired sams are useless in the case of deep penetration missions. They’re useful against CAS planes & such, but when an aircraft hugs the earth at 600 kts along carefully chosen penetration routes, they become much less relevant if there is no prior warnings.

No but it wasn’t an AESA in the first place either, hence why it’s limited in still having the PESA back end. The Captor-E is a ground-up AESA design built with fully matured technology.
So what’s the fundamental difference between a PESA back-end & an AESA back-end?

at the start of this discussion we was talking about situation when you dont have support from third party like AWACS, ground radar.
For example when you are inside enemy’s territory ( hence we talking about SAM)
and as mission planning by satellite’s pictures are not the perfect solution either since modern SAM like Buk, Tor-m1, Pastri-s1, S-400 can all change their position within 5-15 minutes

Are you aware that the original RBE2 was already an electronically scanned radar, because the FAF had already anticipated that electronically scanned radars were the way of the future? That it was a PESA was a transitory step to get ahead on the AESA transition because the cost/efficiency ratio of first gen AESA modules was considered too low.
It’s not like the RBE2 was a mechanical array in the first place.

Which is why SPECTRA has built in SIGINT/ELINT capabilities. If radar transmits, then SPECTRA will pick it up and update the circles on the tactical screen.

even if the Rafale fly at 1 meter from the ground, the radar horizon to a radar 15 meter tall is still 20 km, sure you can argue that Rafale can use terran masking but then enemy can also put radar on mountain, or having AWACs, fighter flying CAP
Flying low make sense when you want to attack a ship but again ground target? not so much
To a radar 15m tall not to a target. The idea is to fly around radar coverage, not towards it. If that radar is a target, you use other means to strike it. Or you pop up & fire from 70km+
