Probably they had full US support in the past for spares and manpower. Why not move to the next provider of manpower. The Pakistani love to give some manpower but they will try to sell some products and earn more cash…

Agree with PLA….. pakistan will be able to provide real cheap labour to the saudis……

you got it right PLA, since the US forces left the kingdom, Saudis have requested about a 10-15,000 men who will man saudi equipement. Saudis doesnt trust the west sources fully anymore since the trend of sanctions and see Pakistan the next source to supply arms which are basically Chinese with western systems

actually this could be a win-win situation for both the nations…..

the saudis would get real cheap labour (compared to american forces) from pakistan, whereas pakistan would benefit by the direct employment of about 10,000-15,000 men. that would be apart from the tank deal……

ISrael is delivering the MKI avionics. They are aware of the capabilities of the IAF. About IAF goign to train in ISrael… Where? ISrael is going abroad to Turkey to get some space. Whether IAF is going to learn a lot by fighting against IDEAF F16’s… Getting close to F16’s isn’t very smart for the bigger plane. Using BVR… Well. That sounds more like math then real combat.

the article mentions exercises… also why does IAF need to go to israel to train ??

and if by your logic going for “air exercises” means going for “training”, then the IAF need not worry…. coz they trained the USAF recently :p

I beleive because PAF wont pay for the F-16s, it’ll pay for other aircraft..so 18 more f-16s for free..and infrastructure is there..will you deny them???

i wouldn’t deny the infrastructure issue…. my point is pakistan could get many more useful things than the baseline F-16s under the FMS….

the cash(amount=18 F-16s) would be better utilised by PN for the P-3s….

    i dont understand one thing…..
first up the pakistanis claim that the FC-1 is superior to the baseline F-16….. and that the the FC-1 is supposed to be deployed with the PAF in 2007…. thats about after 2.5 yrs….

even if pakistan manages to acquire the F-16s from the U.S. , they will not be top of the line F-16s…. then why does pakistan need these F-16s ?

also the pakistani leadership has said on numerous occasions that pakistan is prepared to give its principle adversary a befitting reply….

    PAF ACM kaleem saadat

β€œHowever, we are quite capable of defending ourselves as far as our adversary is concerned” he told a press conference on sidelines of International Defence Exhibition & Seminar IDEAS 2004 Pakistan at Export Centre in Karachi.

if PAF is in a comfortable postion vis-a-vis IAF, as ACM kaleem saadat points out, then i don’t understand the hullabaloo over the entire F-16 thing….

the best way to go for the PAF, in the current scenario, seesm to be a robust force consisting of FC-1s and probably the J-10s later on…. (with western avionics, ofcourse)

    also China is Pakistans “all-weather” ally….. πŸ™‚

defence secretary acknowledging the acquisition of green pine radar…

β€œAfter discussions for the past three to four years, we have acquired a Green Pine radar,” Narain said……..

and as far as the S-300 is concerned…. does anyone have some official confirmation of the deal….. ?

Remember guys that India had purchased the S-300 Grumble and India is still bidding for the Arrow 2 or Patroit. S-300 is a joke. Russia should think of alternatives.

when did that happen, desijatt ? S-300 purchased by india ?

i have never seen any of them in the ‘republic day parade’ ….

previous press reports had reported the “popeye II” which was being considered by INDIA….

    http://www.israeli-weapons.com/weapons/missile_systems/air_missiles/popeye/Popeye_Lite.html

In December 1999 press reports suggested the possibility of the sale of Popeye 2 missiles to India. US officials told Israel that they were concerned about sales of arms to India because of tensions in the region.

    GSLV launch

GSLV to Launch EDUSAT on September 20, 2004

    Bangalore September 10, 2004

Preparations for the launch of EDUSAT by India’s Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle (GSLV-F01) are proceeding satisfactorily at Satish Dhawan Space Centre (SDSC) SHAR, Sriharikota. As per the present progress, the launch is expected to take place at 4:01 pm on Monday, September 20, 2004.

Integration of GSLV-F01 on the launch pad commenced on July 7, 2004. All launch vehicle systems have been integrated and checked out successfully. EDUSAT, the first exclusive satellite for educational services, was transported to SDSC SHAR in the first week of August 2004 and, since then, it has undergone all checks. After propellant filling operations, the spacecraft has been encapsulated and integrated with GSLV.

In the next few days, a complete checkout of the fully integrated launch vehicle along with satellite will be carried out. The launch rehearsal is planned on September 16, 2004 and the final countdown is expected to begin in the early hours of September 19, 2004.

The Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office, Mr Prithviraj Chavan, today visited SDSC SHAR and had a view of the fully integrated vehicle. Mr G Madhavan Nair, Chairman, ISRO briefed the Minister on the preparations for the launch.

read the cruise missile report. There is mention of development of longrange high altitude SAM and that is called ADS-37. They didnot mention the name.

ok…. so according to YAHOO25 the system should be called ADS-37 πŸ˜€

and just giving it a fancy name won’t make it as capable as the S-300pmu-1… πŸ˜€
