well, i have bigger screens in my Dynamic WT9, do i win? 🙂
As of now YES, since you already HAVE bigger screens … 🙂
But i’m sure the Indians will try their best to get a bigger screen as well….
a bigger screen will def provide a better in flight entertainment experience for our pilots !
Tejas is still in development. We will have to wait and see the end product and the numbers it will be ordered. And I think it is still a kind of wetdream to write about bombing inside Pakistan. India is not close to that capability if you understand both the real response power of China and Pakistan. Sweeping was maybe possible when India had Mig25 running like crazy over Islamabad but these days they cannot even cross miles over the border without meeting opponents or SAM’s. You do remember that the “mighty” Su30 run back to its airfield after being photogrpahed by oudated block15’s? I guess we can keep Pakistan out of the scenario. 😉
Care to post sources about this “mighty” claim or is this one of your wet dreams ?
like your other wetdream , “atleast one Pakistani is sitting in a MKK now”
You never backed that mighty claim of yours with any source !
Nirav,
Google: “no radar MKI Red Flag” and you can have your sources without asking it. I bet there will be some different views but as far as I remember, even in the UK, the MKI were guided by Tornado radars to simulate BVR. And the reason that they shot everything that moved (and yes a lot of friendlies) in Red Flag has to do with no links, no radar and no compatible IFF. I do not claim anything. I just provide information already known and discussed so often, even on this forum. There is no gain for me personal. MKI is a great plane. But we must differentiate dreams from facts.
About the MKI order. 230 planes is indeed impressive if you know that it means 2 engines, 2 pilots per plane! But still, compare that to USA. Then it is less then the number of ex USAF f16’s at AMARC (old name). India is huge and not only in size but also in population. 230 is intresting but it could have a lot more. I have the feeling that another plane will be bought in larger numbers.
Its 230 + the being negotiated 42 …. which leads to 270 Su-30 MKIs ( 2 attrition losses )
there are 100+ Sukhois already inducted ….
Now why should these numbers be compared to the US ? Their F-16s ?
These assets will not be employed against the USA …
Their role will (logically) be against Pakistan in support of the Cold Start doctrine and for Surgical strikes on terror camps in PoK.
So for this Role, the numbers are Gigantic enough !
This link does not say anything about “atleast one Pakistani flying in a MK” …
Care to backup that claim ?
And,India not choosing to use the radar on its Sukhois is quite different from your “India not being allowed to use the radar” ….
For your info. Atleast one PAF pilot is training at the moment on a MK…
Interesting. Do you have any source to back up on that ?
@ the Gigantic order bit : it (42 A/c order) is in addition to 230 MKIs …
270 MKIs is big enough right ? 🙂
Also, can you also give a source to your claim that the MKIs were NOT allowed to use their radars ?! 😮
Nirav wins the Non Sequiter award for Spring 2010.
If I untangle what was said, the US provides Pakistan with air to air missiles because it doesn’t hand over a terrorist leader to them?
Moggy
Err …. It means that IF Pakistan Hand over Osama to US, the GWOT would be over and US would get out of Afghanistan ASAP..
It is in Pakistans interest to keep him alive, and keep getting American “aid” ( Military and financial ) to help them fight the “War on Terror” …
It is in this context i said the bit about AMRAAMs …
Well, they even signed up for delivery of Oliver hazard Perry frigates … Must be for the Sea borne Taliban …

If Pakistan were to handover Osama to the Americans, how would they go about arming their forces ?
How would they get the much needed AMRAAMs to fight the War On Terror ? 😀
Wonder how the Taliban/Terrorist Airforce fares against the “AMRAAMs” !! 🙂

Honestly speaking, I wasn’t that pretty impressed with the Vayushakti showcase of IAF, since it was more like pleasing attending dignitaries. One can clearly see that all those MKI’s, Jaguars were only dropping the bomb on marked target, that’s it. Although I really enjoyed the night bombing which was very deadly in its appearance.
What else did you expect ? instead of marked targets they would attack targets across the border ?! 😮
Vayu Shakti is being telecasted on DD National if possible somebody record it
The commentator said the An-32 dropped 10 [?] 1000 lb bombs @ a simulated target …
Another heavy load was a Su-30 dropping 26 250 KG bombs on a target . 😎
Pretty impressive it was … the whole firepower demo .. managed to view it live …
Also, the Picture taken by the Reconnaissance Sukhoi gifted to the President at teh conclusion of the Demo was spot on … 😎
and so was the FLIR feed by the UAVs ..
The Sarang (ALH Dhruv ) team was also present at the demo .
All in all, impressive firepower demo 🙂

Would the engine need modification? I remember it is narrower than the GE 404 but about 30cm longer. If the engine does not need modification does the 2 years refer to the amount of time it would take to modify Tejas into a MkII version?
As per this article by Shiv Aroor,
According to Tenter and his team, for the Tejas to be able to take in an EJ200 engine, the engine will need “minor” modifications. These include some changing to the mounting assembly, a different hydraulic pump and an additional generator pack for starters. In addition, engine interfaces might need changes depending on how the LCA is configured. All in all, Eurojet believes its tailor-made EJ200 for the LCA can be ready — certification tests and all — in two years flat
And just as often it starts with someone dragging in stuff like the JF-17 or J-10 just to show how superior the LCA is…
Mind you, we hà ve been strict on deleting offending messages, and we hà ve been generous with infractions and (temporary) bans. Yet for some reason these don’t seem to work: IAF (and PAF) threads almost by definition deteriorate in cheap p!ssing contests. The rate in which those threads are flocked by posters means that the speed in which they deteriorate is way quicker than for us mods to clean them up. I’m sorry, but we do have more fruitful things in life than cleaning up subcontinental unpleasantries.
There is a lot of cleaning up in your collective act to be done, the good ones notwithstanding.
Individual punishments and post-removals appearantly don’t work. Perhaps the threat of having your work removed does.
DovinR, we do not teach anyone. No moderator would care if you come from the Indian subcontinent, from antarctica, or from another planet for that matter.
I’m not too sure If that applies to all Moderators Frank ..
Arthur, from the looks of it, seemingly shows a dislike for subcontinental threads .. Indian ones to be specific …
In the post that I have quoted of Arthur, it seems that the “subcontinental” threads are the only ones which get into trouble on this board …
All the other threads on this board never have any issues ….
Its strange because this is what SOC had to say in the earlier ‘General Warning’
There has been a pretty large upswing in the nationalistic, flame-baiting BS in various threads, be they related to certain Eurocanards, certain neighboring adversaries, or certain other nations with large populations.
So if according to Arthur, if he feels the need to threaten the removal of the good work of posters to prevent threads from going down, it should apply uniformally across the board, and not just selectively to “subcontinental topics”
And also, @
Of course it needs no further explanation that what happened to this thread, might happen just as well to any other thread dealing with the better known sensitive topics.
Would you kindly specify which exact “better known sensitive topics” you are referring to ?
Being Specific would help ..
[CONSTRUCTIVE SUGGESTION]A way to get things working normally, I think, would be to appoint more Moderators.
That way, the existing Mods can also get their workload reduced and not get too stressed … [/CONSTRUCTIVE SUGGESTION]
Guess what. The Brand New IAF Thread (XI) has been closed, and archived in a non-accessible part of the database.
The thread was derailing into an India/China/Pakistan slugfest yet again, despite repeated warnings. Hence, the information posted there is no longer available.
Feel free to start a Brand New IAF Thread number XII. Keep it clean, and it will stay. Keep it really clean, and thread number XI will re-emerge as well.
Of course it needs no further explanation that what happened to this thread, might happen just as well to any other thread dealing with the better known sensitive topics.
Deleting the whole thread and moving it to a non-accessible part is an extreme measure which i think is unwarranted ….
Just because of the Nationalistic flame baiting of a few members, i dont think and entire thread with lot of useful information should be deleted !
as per the ‘general warning’ by SOC here
offending posts should have been deleted and posters have been given points ….
Getting rid of the whole thread is unjustified IMHO ….
They mean Iran, North Korea, China, generally. (or so I presume). Iran when Israel/US launches their denuking attack, North Korea never know when they do what, China if Taiwan declares independence. In the event that Pakistan becomes an Islamic state, that too would join the list.
But isnt Pakistan an Islamic state already ?
Nirav. I thought we have been through this. I dont communicate with people who throw around religious insults. Or have you forgotton this?
Is my approval or recognition still so important to you?
I dont seek recognition from Trolls, mind you. 😎
Admit it that you just are NOT capable of defending your so called theories or backing up on your “mathematics” ! 😀
