From everything I’ve seen there are 3 aspects to Stealth- Shape, Materials and Tactics. Shape minimizes the return of radar waves or reflects it away from the emitter/receiver. Shape also tries to reduce the visibility of large radar reflectors like the inside of cockpits, engine faces, tailpipes etc. Materials minimizes radar reflectability through it’s composition and forms like the radar traps on the SR-71. Tactics is simply to avoid the situations where the first 2 aspects are unusable such as a B-2 being caught at low altitude in the daytime where a FLIT aircraft with a .30 cal machine gun could take it out.

Adrian, The interview you link to has the following diagram for the tail slide maneuver:

Don’t get me wrong…. I absolutely love the Su-27 family of fighters. However the logic that western fighter pilots have regarding maneuvers like the one above declaring them to be of little use in an actual combat situation seems to be well illustrated in the above picture. If the opposing aircraft simply pulled into a high yo-yo instead of a flat pushover, he would have an altitude advantage against an opponent out of inertia and being forced to dive away to regain speed and controlability. The opposing fighter simple continues over the top and into a tail aspect shot agains an opponent likely to be bending the throttles trying to get back to best maneuvering speed or trying to extend. It does seem trainable tactics can be used to overcome a maneuvering disadvantage.

    😉

I never claimed that my English was
up to par with some of you here, but, I thought I had made
it obvious with the subject heading.

The other, leaner, meaner, also as deadly B-52???”

No “than’s” included ! My apologies

No problem. I lived for 8 years at Barksdale AFB which is the main base for B-52s and have a great fondness for the Stratopig. 😎

Seriously though…. how does the Badger compare in terms of range, warload, performance, etc with the B-52G/H?

A Tu-16 Badger is meaner and deadlier than a B-52? I’ll give you the leaner part, but that’s about it.
