That’s on a par with the story in the national press about 18 months ago about crated spitfires. supposedly just discovered, buried at an airfield in India. Apparently some guy, using ground penetrating radar, said that he’d found ‘box’ shapes under the ground.
Funny how we’ve never heard anymore !!
Totally agree with you Moggy.
It must be about time for a ‘Will Just Jane Fly again ?” type thread to start – they seem to surface every 3 months or so !
Brilliant photos – thanks for sharing them with us !
Cheers,
Andrew
Sounds like an excellent idea.
If you’re OK with a newcomer joining the group, I’d certainly be up for this !
Thanks,
Andrew
If you’re at the museum in the summer, they do an excellent tour of the old airfield using a Queen Mary transporter. You all get in the back with a guide who talks to you about the field as you drive gently around. I did it last year and would recommend it highly.
You can see how a large section of the main runway is still there. The only problem for high speed taxi runs is that there isn’t a permanent runway between it and Just Jane’s hangar. Maybe something for the future ?
Excellent that the Panton brothers have got a second plane, even if it is on temporary loan !
Careful Snapper, you’re slipping into bolshy subscriber mode.
Think Flying Legends
You know it makes sense
Totally agree.
The Forum is an excellent place to swap and gain information on our favourite subject. It’s not a place for strong personal attacks, just because someone doesn’t immediately agree with your point of view.
Recent adverse comments against the Fighter Collection etc, miss the point about how lucky we are to have airshows like Flying Legends and collections dotted around the country that are excellent to visit.
The sun is shining – let’s enjoy the summer of airshows !!!!
Cheers,
Andrew

Is there any danger of finding out what’s the ‘more interesting’ item at Duxford ?
This is starting to smack of a ‘I know something, you don’t’ type conversation. All it needs is the ner ner ner ner at the end !
Come on David, put us out of our misery !!
I’ll enjoy having a look for the mystery extra on Sunday when I’m off to the Fathers Day Spitfire event at Duxford (as mentioned by Ashley on a previous thread).
Another reason to enjoy the Museum !
Cheers,
Andrew
But what would Duxford do with TWO Concordes ?
Surely there must be other museums in the UK that would jump at the chance of having such a quality exhibit, whilst leaving Duxford with it’s original Concorde !
Cheers,
Andrew
Check out their website:
http://www.yeovilton.org.uk/Displays.htm
As it says at the end “Confirmed appearances of the Sea Hawk and Sea Fury are both subject to the satisfactory completion of restorative work estimated to complete in June 2003 and July 2003 respectively”
Thanks,
Andrew
Yes, I thought that, but there’s only one B17 listed and not the two from last year and only three corsairs – there were five last year.
The Firefly also wasn’t on last year’s listing.
Anyway, visit the Fighter collections site and see what you think !!!
Cheers,
Andrew
Thanks for the recommendation.
I’ve just read it – it’s a great book !
Cheers,
Andrew
I hope so !
She was great at last year’s Flying Legends when she flew with Sally B and Duxford’s P47 Thunderbolt acted as ‘top cover’
Looking forward to it already !!
Cheers,
Andrew
