Thanks Rob !
I’d agree with you Kev, that it will change Cosford, but at least it will mean that it’s emerging more and more as a museum in it’s own right, rather than an overflow for Hendon
It’s going to be very impressive given that it’s got to hold all three V bombers, the York, Hastings and Dakota, plus a variety of smaller jets.
Should be excellent !!
Sounds good – that’s a better price than Amazon (£14).
I haven’t seen a copy yet, but I think I’ll be buying one !
Nice photos !
Good to see you again.
See you at Duxford hopefully.
I think you’re making the mistake of thinking that the politicians are:
a) listening
b) interested
c) actually going to do anything (particularly once they’re re-elected).
At the risk of being overly pessimistic, I think we’re on a downhill slope with this issue and that future displays will be single engined aircraft only.
Yes, a good day out with excellent company.
If any of you reading this haven’t been to Old Warden, come along to the next airshow and make yourself known
Excellent stuff – well done !
So what’s next ? 🙂
HP57, what’s this about “there is a complete Halifax with bomb load still in a lake (and for sale as most of us know)” ?
Can you give more details or a link ?
Just excellent – always great to see something new arrive at TFC.
Shame I couldn’t get over to DX today.
Well said, Melv.
The plans for the new Cold War building at Cosford look quite impressive, but Cosford is already well worth a visit, if you haven’t been.
If you’re a Friend of Duxford, one of their trips each year is usually to the Restoration Centre at Cosford – well worth going on.
Welcome aboard Dan !
I think that the Cosford Liberator is destined to go to the RAF Museum at Hendon as a swap when they bring the Valiant up to Cosford to complete the trio of V Bombers at their new Cold War display.
Unfortunately, that means it will never fly again – I think we’ll have to look for a transatlantic visitor if we want to see a B24 in the air in the UK again.
Not sure what paint scheme the Liberator will end up in at Hendon – hopefully it will be RAF rather than US.
Bumping this back to the top !
11am sounds good to me.
Not been to Brooklands before, so it’ll be good to have some time to wander around before the main event !!
The Carpetbagger Museum at Harrington in Northants isn’t keen on photographs being taken – I was told it was due to security concerns (as mentioned above).
