Coley’s Scrapyard
The photograph of G-ALWE was taken on the 1st September 1958 at Coley’s. These were the other wrecks which were there that day:
G-ADBL (A W Scimitar), G-AIHO (Tiger Moth), G-ANCA (Brittania- not sure if I’ve read the registration correctly on this one), 643 (K Z 9 of the Danish Air Force), WW636 (Hunter), RH748 ( P9-E Brigand), RD388 (Beaufighter). I think the following were probably all Harvards: FT310, KF182, FX297, FT145, FE948.
If anybody has any other photos taken at Coley’s in Hanworth/Hounslow I would be very pleased to see them.

Sandhurst Garage Scrapyard
Mark,
Thanks very much for posting that photo. I think I can identify the two fuselages as I made a note of the codes as well as the serial numbers. I think the one in the foreground is Harvard KF435 (G-N) and the one in the background is Harvard (O-J) KF388.
I went there on the 20th March 1960 and these were the other wrecks that I noted at the time. I think they were all Harvards.
FT346 (G-), FX394 (U-E), KF405, KF639 (615 Squadron), KF665 (P-), FX279, KF197 (R-W), FT346 (W-G), KF497, EZ259 (Royal Navy), FS837 (O-), FS881 (X-), KF966 (R-R), KF911 (R-), FX355 (N-J), FX379 (R-), FX366, FX437 (B-), FX442 (SD-B 501 Squadron), KF310, KF322 (Q-), KF343 (P-Q), KF487 (N-T), KF290 (E-M0, KF503, KF990, FX225, and FX258 (F-).
Do you have any more info on the Sandhurst Garage by any chance? IN my diary I have written Sandhurst (D & I) Garage. If you have any more photos I’d love to see them.
In the meantime I’m attaching photos of the fabric from EZ259

G-ALWE
I thought you might like to see a newspaper cutting which relates to the cause of the crash.

More Scrapyards
From 1956 to 1960 I was quite an avid spotter. Unfortunately I didn’t have a camera that worked but here is a photo one of my friends took of me standing on the remains of Viscount G-ALWE at Coley’s Scrapyard in Hanworth/Hounslow.
I also used to go to the Sandhurst Garage in Sandhurst near Camberley who also dealt in scrapped aircraft during that period. They had many Harvards there and I still have a record of the serial numbers. I guess I may have got the name wrong but has anybody any more info on this scrapyard?
Apart from Coley’s which I visited regularly (we used to sneak in over the fence from the side which backed onto the River Crane) I also recall making quite a few trips to Eyre’s Smelting Works in Mitcham.
If anybody is interested I still have details of all the registrations. I still have a couple of pieces of Fabric which I took from Harvard EZ259 in March 1960. It was among a number of other Harvards but I was surprised to find it has now been restored.
I wonder if anybody has any photos of these scrapyards particularly any taken between 1957 and 1961.

I just came across this thread and I visited the Torbay Aircraft Museum in June 1972. I took a number of photos on transparencies which I converted to jpgs a couple of years ago. They have aged but are still fairly OK. Here is a general view
