It would be easy to get the support and funding needed to build a proper museum.
Really sad.
Thanks for pointing my error out Wallace and Argonaut.
Not recog error, writing error.
I was imaging TriDENT, but my fingers spelled out TriSTAR, the Lockheed L1011.
I am very familiar with both as I saw plenty of Tridents in my time in UK, as well as Tristars (may have traveled in one once)
Corrected and updated title.
Amazing how many times still images turns out to be still from film.
Also a few times B&W photos printed in magazines and books sourced from colo(u)r photos(!)
TonyT,
Did not notice that little blurb at the top of page, most of which has not changed in years (and one link is non-functional).
App is also broken on iOS.
Knowing UK, would need a special room to dry off (should move it to Texas, plenty dry here, that is when hurricanes not coming. The storm, not airplane! )
RRW,
Very true.
Its present condition does not leave much to see. It will be a bigger challenge to present than if it where intact, or even just 1 large section.

And should have posted here, only found this thread later.

Thanks for posts.
Disappointing to see loss of interest for what is last of its kind (even if not much left)
Granted there are more pressing matters, but this certainly deserves a strong and steady effort.
Red, guess U mean this?

The frothing at mouth we do over bits of aircraft. 😎
‘ello all,
Been a long time since last post, cant believe time go so fast.
I assume by now rest of 17 is out, tents and Cosford outdoor display are gone.
And so has a lot of the excitement it seems, do not see much in way of updates. 🙁
Anyone see it recently?
A “Top Gun” thumbs up for you!!
Good news, closed a chapter.
Pity aircraft is just fragments, but then it was war.
As a Yankee who visited this building often (in fact was instrumental in my aviation interest) I am really cross!
Although the collection was a bit mixed (87, 110 and 88 where post BoB) it was a IMHO a great view of that period of time!
I am glad I could see it in 2014, and how much it had changed.
WTF is going on that RAFM?
Yes, he / museum was fortunate.
Unfortunately Irma did a massive damage elsewhere.
Meanwhile in Houston, Harvey caused massive damage (still have flooding issues in parts, 2.5 weeks later!)
I know a number of people who lost lots, and one who died. :apologetic:
The four (4!!!) air museums in Houston seemed to have escaped damage, but only just!
Houston Wing (CAF) at KIWS had water right up to door.
Lone Star FM survived in its new building
Texas Flying Legends is OK as well.
Gulf Coast Wing (CAF) did not hear anything bad happen.
Does not include Tora group and SB2C (might been flown out)
Great pics!
Yes, that 217 gear is unique! Make it the second largest piece of a 217 known!
Although bits and pieces, an oddly (or very) fitting tribute to the war.
Great post!
Thanks for sharing, Dogsbody!!
scotavia, “Always” is one of the best aviation movies ever, great to remind people of it.
Great thread!
