Last of its kind is still the last of its kind.
Once gone all the details that made it and the effort to build it are gone.

Although only a portion, that is still well worth preserving (where to display is another challenge)

IMHO should have held it that nose high because one the tail lose control effectiveness, BUMP!

Effective landing, damage looks minimal, all good. 🙂

PS I think something wrong with #1 engine, kept going when #2 already stopped.

Not quite as spectacular as this: 😉

    Chiming in on the debate:

I am most disappointed by the airframe performance, largely by the (typical?) over promising of the manufactures and vocal proponents.
“Video game” style avionics I am a huge supporter of, which will help compensate for its limits.

    Of the types:
F-35C (Navy) All for this one, even if pricey.
F-35B (VTOL) I am highly opposed to VTOL combat design, I feel the “V” abilty takes too much away from its combat ability, especially for naval (which UK foolishly did).
F-35A Jack of all, master of none, and UUUGLY to boot (warts and all). If the idea was to make something like an F-16, then F-35 is eating too much beer and hotdogs!

IMHO, the fact it is designated and “F” and comes in 3 very, very different versions (<25% common parts) shows of completely committed up this is.
Unlike the F-22 which really was made as a fighter that could carry bombs, the F-35 was designed (at last moment) to do ground attacks (thus the totally mindless plan to retire the A-10). Clearly it was done to make it all seem the same, but makes it easier to make mistakes.
    What is should be is:
    F/A-35 (for 35A)
    AV-35 (35B)
FS-35 (35C) Yes, I made that one up, the S indicates “Ship” carrier based

    Better
    F/A-35 (for 35A)
    AV-36 (35B)
    FS-37 (35C)

Anyway, its here. I wonder how long before it is rendered obsolete?

You have to admit in the world of talentless musical twaddle these guys are pretty inventive.
Stay with this one till the end, the end is very good.

Agree, they reinvent music videos. Pity too few take them up on challenge.

    Good info here!
Airfoils are not often considered in aircraft discussion.

Notwithstanding the doubtful nature and origin of much of what this vendor sometimes offers, the hose and Argus connector are certainly correct and of the period. Whether they originate from the aircraft with the Douglas Bader connection is another matter, of course.

    Thanks for comment Andy.
While the “ARGUS” may be indeed on German aircraft and the fittings do look period, the protective, non abrasion wrap around it strikes me as a post war addition.
It is usually made of plastic which was a pretty new material at the time.
Anyone know when that was introduced?

He had a Do 17 piece up, it did look like a design used, just could not link it to something in the Do 17.

I loved the camaraderie and drama in RT, it really felt real. Looking at the trailer it shows they worked hard to get the bond and teamwork.

The air combat, how the enemy is portrayed, almost ruined the movie. Almost.

    as RpR,

    US killer guns.

    Sounds like a B grade sci-fi movie.

But there is real fear in USA, and I think caused by the general poor economy for lower middle class.

    Other things to consider:

    1. When memory card is full, get a new one. Use the card as a backup, write years on it.
    2. MULTIPLE COPIES, copy to USB drives.
    3. Store copies in fireproof case, in 2 locations.

How did pneumatic systems compare with hydraulic?

I can see the no-freeze advantage, but was the response to input adequate?
And what was the pump used at what pressure?

    Thanks

    Thanks for posting!

IT would be grate if you post some detail photos.
I guess the silver knob is clock for bomb release? Does it seem to be timer?

    Cheers!

Odd, informal font style for an official letter.

I agree with Junk Collector, a forensic Anthropologist would give authorities something to go on.
I don’t know if people from North Africa are as different from Europeans as say, Asians, but a report might be able to rule out whether the remains were from a European male or not.

    Agree,
I have seen programs where much was learned just from the structure of bones themselves.

I with Robin best of luck in tracing location of bones and best ID as possible.

(and yes, I think this situation was comically handled too, by many parties)
(It may not be 2000+ year old pharos, but it is now history, should be treated as such)
