I do not like horror films.
Flying_Pencil, yours is another worthy guess, though I’m holding off on agreeing. Just for the fun of it, here is a closeup of this gentleman, on the right, compared with two known photos of Sir James Bird.
Consider the source of light can greatly effect how a person looks, and the Spit pic the light is slightly above the camera.
The other images the light is not the same angle.
Sir Bird is also 60 years old, expect some facial changes.
…which is makes difficult because the years the other images taken is not stated.
In addition the other 2 images look to be a few generations old, probably taken off news papers and magazines rather than significantly higher quality photo medium.
I also note how intently he is looking at something inside the cockpit.
Not conclusive, but possibility.

Very real.
The actual lead airplane “Thats All, Brother” is planned to be there as well.
Mark, the man to lower left holding on to fuselage looks like Sir James Bird.
Great find and show!
Stupid tragedy.
Way too low.
Sad.
I thought he was going to do a roll, but when I saw beginning of loop I knew he will hit ground.
Totally non-sequitur to me, how RAF @ 100 = …that!
Oh I can’t help myself…Spectrum is Green!

Oh, SNAP, makes sense that Spectrum was also a all inclusive organization!
(Always wondered about the all female “Angles” 😉 )
Great ongoing story!
Excellent to see these 360* views.
It has been decades since this technology was introduced (mid 1990’s), why it take so long?
First cut at a Stirling virtual cockpit tour… other parts of the aircraft and videos later, plus VR.
Just a trial – quality and content improvements later!
Go full screen for best effect.
Thats great, James!
Something better than nothing.
Stupid, as (nearly) all ways.
Housing: can always build upward.
On this side of pond, Santa Monica airport (California) is being targeted for closure by land developers, even though it is one of the busiest and most important airports in US. Anyone seriously thinking it will be made into a “park” is drinking Cool-aide.
Thank you folks. Mystery solved. I don’t know how I missed this one. I think I thought it was a bigger aircraft than it actually was. I’ve found that Revell did a plastic 1/32 kit of it with Werk number 310189, only 4 adrift of the wreck in the photo.
Ju288 and He219 are pretty close to same size.
The key to ID is the prominant dihedral in He219 tail.
Ju is flat.

That Facebook page is a non-profit organization that is connected to the private collection of flying WWII aircraft in Russia, setup to help fund the restorations/operations, which includes the Russian-based Il-2, a couple Mig-3’s, three Polikarpov fighters, a PO-2 and a T-6 (and I think they’ve also branched into WWI aircraft/replicas as well) – the same entity which first announced the intention of bringing the Il-2 to Flying Legends this summer. One of their current goals is to restore a Tupolev TU-2 to fly.
Can you tell me more about Russian ground and preserving/restoring WB’s?
Cannot see in USA.
********!
LOL, my UK “word” censored.
Then.. HOVNO!
Sounds like an unacceptable level of errors
(always some get though)
