BBC – umm!
One reason we don’t see some of the better programmes again is the tapes were wiped and reused.
Not sure about each of the series mentioned in this thread though.
Just to give an example, Peter Peter filmed the “Blue Peter” loco and its train all the way along the East Coast Mainline. Cameras were placed at good vantage points along the route and onboard too. Even a helicopter was used to chase the train. Goodness knows how much money was spent.
I contacted the production office after the piece was shown and was told that all that was left was the piece that went out on the programme. The rest was wiped. No chance of a DVD , what a waste.
There was one airshow at which both did appear together; the 1987 open day at the Mosquito Museum (as was). It was my first visit to the place, and after that they had to put up with me for another 22 years!

I remember that day, oh for a decent video camera. It was quite a show with some low level passes with both aircraft in formation and the sound. 😀
Great, someone posted some pictures.
May I suggest that you browse to

‘426 is having a repaint and looks good.
Now there is an aircraft i can’t wait to see flying!!!! Excellent news even better if Jerry Yagens’s Mossie comes to the UK once finished.
Too true.
I wondered where it had disappeared to.
Could the UK “borrow” a Mossie for a few years?
A Mossie at Legends? That should close the gates at 08:15. :diablo:
Joking aside, just to hear that the world has an air-worthy Mosquito again would be marvelous. Roll-out, engine tests, flight tests the to do list must be a long one. Oh yes, and some water to cross too.
Here`s wishing all the best to the teams working on a rebuild.:)
Looks like the rear seat was free! Any chance of a lift? :diablo:
Nice!
Good grief! What an utterly ugly building at a ridiculous cost.
80 million would purchase a few new hangers to put irreplaceable aircraft in and maybe some walkways around the displays so the viewer could see the aircraft better and they wouldn’t be damaged by mounting them like insects.
Hopefully “spending cuts” will see this one off.
I used to use Opera, however I must have changed a setting somewhere (either in Opera or KIS) and cannot get the front page of this forum to display past “General Discussion” so I am using Firefox instead. Hate the bookmark display in Firefox though.

Did anyone see the new BBC science programme “Bang” 😮 ?
One of the presenters mentioned that the set was built in where they tested the Harrier. So that would be Dunsfold then?
Back on topic –
A beautiful plane indeed. With RAF Lyneham maybe closing looks like Comet fans might need to move the gate guard to safety? 🙁
Please post more photos.:) and Melv please post some more stories.
Hangar 11 dont seem to do dux
Pity, they’re only down the road at North Weald. :diablo:
Shame the organisers couldn’t have been more inventive with the list of acts. Okay the Vulcan is U/S but surely they could have found some replacements such as the Sea Vixen, Hunter(s), Hanger 11 and add your favourite aircraft. There is not even a Chinook!
Only on Sunday, but I might still go though if the weather is OK. 🙂
Thanks for the corrections to the Duxford arrival dates.:)
Any update on the best day to go please or should I use my normal method of flipping a coin?
Is the Vulcan flying around to drive the rain away?;)
