From the RIAT website
When it became clear that we could not guarantee the safety of the many thousands of people… the decision to cancel was straightforward
How can anyone guarantee anybody’s safety? I’ve just slipped over running to answer the telephone so who do I sue?
Just tell people to put their welly boots on and pack a mac.
I remember some air shows where the toilets were large open buckets with a plank balanced on the top. Smelled bad and you risked falling in!
A staggering decision, made very late in the day…as the song goes, I predict a riot!
Yep, there are going to be thousands of people who won’t know about this until they turn up at the gates.
Short notice, normally I would having an early night by now! 😮
Is this true or has someone hacked the site?
I’m booked for the Sunday. Should I blame this on ‘elf and Safety? I’ve been to Farnbor’ needing Welly boots so what is the problem?
Nothing on the BBC (with doesn’t say alot) or Sky, someone should put this news out on the channels quickly.
Is Duxford still on?
Supposed to be flying two practice displays at Waddington tomorrow in order to get two more pilots with a DA.
Anyone know the names of the crew(s) they are “training-up”?:)
I attended Waddo on the Saturday and was fortunate to see the Vulcan fly. I can tell you, where I was, grown men were wiping their eyes and I don’t think it was because of the rain.
A big thank you to getting ‘558 back in the air. Sorry to read about the electrical problem on the Sunday and let’s hope things can get fixed in time for Fairford.
Is she going back to Brunty or is it straight to Fairford from Waddington?
Nice YouTube (Spoiler Alert it might be the display sequence)

Wait till you get to 1:43 and look below the airborne Vulcan. 🙂
Near ‘607?
Fantastic news if the DA has been issued. Goes without saying that video is being posted on YouTube of the take-off from Brunty and the landing at Waddo.

Yeesss:D
Shame it clashes with Fairford. Looks a great list.
Is she booked for Legends?
Ducks for cover.:diablo:
Are you sure it’s not a Tarzon bomb?
As for loud fighters
Lightning – During a Biggin Hill airshow they used to let you cross over to the other side using the grass at the end of the runway. Once they didn’t close the grass in time and pair took off. 😀 Loud!
Typhoon – Due to hearing damage, have to be be careful with loud sound, but the Typhoon turning away from you with the burners lit sends out a huge pressure wave you can feel all over.
Almost a fighter, the Vulcan, that’s loud just taxing.;)
Reading the article from beginning to the end, I’m left feeling that the council will try again and the proceedings only stopped because the council’s case went “tech” by not following the rules.
I’ve got my fingers still crossed. Good luck Kemble.
Makes me wonder which airfield is next on the nimby’s list. Look out Duxford, North Weald, Coventry etc.
So maybe someone dropped the ball as it is quite a historic airframe?, but they have do more than ever with it in the last few months than they had done in the years they have had her.

Her “ex-driver” did very well for himself in the USAF and NASA, maybe someone has invited him to Legends and the museum have decided to fix the Thud up? Will the Thud be at Legends?
Sorry. 🙂
Finally 100 posts.
