Conflicting reports regarding the pilot, fingers crossed for the best.
Looks to be MK356.
I expect we’ll see P9372 take flight this year.
Thanks John. Keep up the excellent work, the Stirling project is one of the reasons I still frequent the forum.
The model looks superb.
Random question, what was the outcome into the possible Stirling wing section at Orfordness? Thanks
There seems a variation in the quality of the CGI used in the 2 trailers seen. I can’t proclaim to be an expert on VFX, but more knowledgeable people online have speculated that the trailer has been produced with digital effects in various stages of production. We’ll see in January I guess.
As MoTA shares a number of the big production staff as Band of Brothers and The Pacific, I very much doubt they won’t be as gritty and realistic as possible.
Good news, wonder what will become of the fairly advanced Ju87 and He111 projects?
Various other detailed sections have been produced for interiors and vfx.
Absolutely bizarre comments Oracal.
Does anybody know any more on the Jet Age Museum supposedly halting work on their project? I thought they were making tremendous progress
It certainly would be nice if one of the excellent 8th Air Force museums benefited.

I don’t have a problem with the use of CGI per se. I think when used correctly it’s fine, like the B24’s in Unbroken. However it has had some nightmarish outings see Red Tails. Large formations I think were always going to see CGI used.
Given that all or a large proportion of filming is taking part in the UK, I imagine that limits the number of B17’s which could be involved. I always thought it was unlikely we would see Memphis Belle numbers. I’m not sure how many operators in the US would be open to their aircraft flying over the Atlantic and being converted to suit the filming needs.
John Orloff, writer and executive producer, is on record saying they wanted to do as much for real as possible. So remains to be seen.
Ah thanks. I wonder when the flyer(s) will be involved in filming?
The market for the period aircraft they require is quite small too. I presume there’s one type in particular they are seeking
This is the pic I’ve seen on Facebook. Credit to Andrea Sacha de Boer. Looks a fairly decent replica.
You can try and contact heritage.trust@Rolls-Royce.com
I’d have thought it unlikely they will be able to give you a specific aircraft, but worth a shot.
Thanks for the pics Adrian. There are some more on Instagram, one showing a 2D B17F.

Not much about the actual aerial sequences. And no rumours of any actual B17’s involved. Though pictures of a number of ‘Messerschmitts’ at Bentwaters have gone around online. Though they are painted in desert schemes, so maybe for an unrelated production.
