    Karna
I will leave yoru complex explanations as to why Indias lack of missile delivery systems to yourself. I think its awfully dangerous to asume what these people are saying is wrong if I was an Indian, if they are telling the truth (which you and I cannot possibly know for certain), then India has no second strike capability whatsoever…..

You guys can rest easy by believing Karnad and then in the same vein talk of disarmament..fact of the matter is Karnad is the biggest hawk there is.
He wants India to be upto its gills in N stuff….

Gives his comments a bit of an agenda doesnt it?

Thats the exact reason why the dude was dropped from the Indian NSAB- the nodal agency that oversees the N planning and doctrine.

Even by Hawk stds, Mr Karnads theories and desires were overkill by far…

Of course, dont mind my saying so and disturbing this nationalistic whose dong is better thread…

    Adios!

Well, its funny, people like Karanad, the head of DRDO etc It all seems to add up, these are not just lone voices in teh dark, but sveral senior establishment figures.

Hehehe nice to see people trying to delude themselves thinking that India dosent have nukes that can bite – but its becoming a drag!!!

Whats becoming a drag is the fact that people claim lots of things about Indias capabilities which are then contridicted by Indian offcials and independent sources. Remember the US report stating Pakistans nuclear and missile superiority over India?

12 Used F-16 upgraded to MLU would be the most cost effective solution to Mexicos needs

    1) They can interact with US AWACS on drug interceptions
    2) Spare parts are a short jeep ride to AMARC
    3) Those birds will be Cheeeeeep! Or even free!

Could it be that India may even not have ANY deliverable nukes? Not an absurd possibility cosnidering

    a) They dont have warheads on there missiles
    b) They withdrew their troops from the 2002 border confrontation with no official explanation

On the flip side, invading Australia, or even effectively attacking Australia is extremely difficult too. It would require high combat persistence, highly effective long range weapons and realtime intel, as well as a strong naval element too possibly, just for starters.

Not only that, but US assistance to the Aussies is virtually gauranteed!

Posting long articles that essentailly tell us nothing new is pointless and wastes space. WHERE DOES IT SAY that India has a warhead that is fitted on Agni or Prvithi? Nowhere. This has been admitted bu DRODO head.

From the Indian armed forces themselves 🙂

In May 1989, India test-fired its first intermediate-range ballistic missile, the Agni. It is a two-stage missile with the first stage using the first-stage solid-fuel booster motor of the SLV-3 satellite launch vehicle. The 18-meter long, 7.5-ton Agni has a range of up to 2,500 km (allowing access to southern China) and is capable of delivering a 1,000-kg payload. The Agni is believed to be fairly accurate, employing a closed-loop inertial guidance system. A second successful test of the Agni occurred in February 1994, firing at a sea-based target 1,200 km into the Bay of Bengal.
Recently the 3rd successful flight test of Agni with increased range was carried out. This time the launch was from a portable missile launcher thus validating and proving that the missile is highly manuverable and can be fired from any part of India.
On September 22nd 2000, the Indian Defence Minister announced that a Upgraded version of Agni, called the AGNI – III, with a range of 3200 km. is ready for test firing.
Recent Media reports suggest that Agni – III will have a 5,000 km. range and will be able to carry multiple nuclear warheads, a capability only with USA and Russia till date

    oops they forgot China 🙂

    This is what it says

“will be able to carry multiple nuclear warheads”

Not “it does” but “will be”

Those words are important. Of course Agni and Privthi have been developed for a nuclear role, no one is disputing that. Thats a bit like saying you are developing a car so that eventually it can run on a road. Ths point is that it is not nuclear capable yet, as per the head of the very organisation that is developing it. Is it always you policy to deny any news that is not positive?

You need to miniaturize nuclear warheads for aircraft delivery role. A missile of the size of Agni-II can carry not just one but atleast a couple thermonuclear-sized payloads, there is no need to make them smaller.

creating air dropped weapons (ala Nagasaki and Hiroshima) is much easier then developing missiles warheads….almost everyone knows that…..

    “missile-based nuclear delivery systems”

That is what the article said. Your cut and pastes have not disproved this.

The “inference” is that yes, Agni is operational, as your articles state, but it has no “nuclear” capability. Obviously you can sit there and only choose to believe what you want, thats your pergative, but simpley because I post news that does not fit inm with your expectations or wishes, that I am sorry for.

Again, it seems that Agni has limited operational capability and no nuclear capbability, infereing perhaps that India has no second strike nuclear capability (i.e only air launched weapons)

Your missing the point here, he claims admits Agni is in service as , probably, is Privthi, thats not the point. The point is that the missile are not nuclear capable. DRDO/India have not successfully minutrised the warheads it seems…..

The article seems to be confused

The Agni One is already in service as per CIA
Agni 2 exists in limited numbers
Agni 3 is supposed to be ready as per another article but needing the Govt nod.

Yeah, sure…..I know your right, head of DRDO does not know what he is on about….
