The Batman had wartime roles so were counted in unit establishments. Now they will be contracted and not expect to serve a wartimne function, your using word play to delibirately mislead. It has amounted to an actual cut in troop strength and this was even admitted by the Army Cheif of Staff.

PLEASE DO NOT MISREPORT OR ATTEMPT TO MISLEAD

    No they dont!

Pakistan is quite a narrow country with an excellent railway system.

Most major Army bases like Multan, Karian and Lahore are very close to the Indian border

armoured and mech infantry formations are about an hours ride from the front.

The only need for lift is to drop paratroops and to resupply PAF bases

I find it very humerous you have a number in your mind that you think the PA/PAF need when even the UK and France (with their world wide military requirments) dont have 75 stratigic lift aircraft, maybe you should do your home work in the future……

Lockheed are refurbishing 6 extra C-130s for the PAF as we speak

Your wrong, Pakistan Army has about 450,000 men, but almost as many choppers as India, in terms of APCs Pakistan has about 2,000

Trucks will not be used in open desert warfare

I am assuming Pakistan and Indian Army have similar C3i and training capabilities

One side will have a marked advantge in terms of airborne and mechnised battalions/brigades

Yes, your right , but that does not change the fundemental fact that combined with more APCs in Pakistan as well and more choppers per sodier, one army is significantly more mobile and flexible then the other……

er, HAL has produced about 600 llama+alouetteIII under license.
about 50% of these probably remain in service today because
production started in 1970 and 1976 and has been continuous till date. 85 Mi17, 24 Mi24/35, unknown number of Mi-8, 25 dhruv today + 95? on order, 4 Mi26. comes to around 553+mi8. we know iaf will flog these beasts well past retirement age. am ignoring the LOH purchase proj & attrition on both sides.

According to BR teh Indian Army only flies around 60 Chetaks and 120 Cheetahs

So the total Indian Chopper fleet is probably around 320 plus MI-8s

Thats is tiny for an almost 1 million man army……

Pakistans fleet will be around 330-340 for an army half the size……..

Puma numbers are around the 25 mark, so that makes for a total fleet of around 330 choppers, which I believe is almost as much as our neighbour to the east……

No timetable on AH-1 and UH-1 deliveries as yet!

Heres the army aviation list, you posted the air force list

    http://www.pakistanidefence.com/PakArmy/ArmyAviationInventory.html

The chopper numbers at present are closer to 160 in total

add to this the following that are being ordered/delivered

    40 UH-1
    40 AH-1
    26 Bell 412
    40 Bell206
    10 MI-17

Then you have a doubling in size of aviation assets

I think what we are discussing is the fact that PAs chopper fleet is increasing in size by 100%…….

Whatever. The facts speak for themselves – a quick google will throw up dozens of references to the economic conditions of the time and how things changed thereafter due to..the ..unique circumstances.

Now lest we drift off topic- do you have any *concrete* references to the PA using any of the methods described by Mavaustin or any reports of it updating its comms to modern day standards?

    Karna
Alot of this equipment is produced or lisence produced in Pakistan by various companies, and this is not just comms kit, but other stuff like RWR, IRST etc

You can find links to these companies on the official Pakistgan Government website

Bigger MFD’s would have helped. The cockpit still appears very cluttered.

Not really, especially when compared to other modern choppers on the market
