i can recall when the wedgetail competition was on the phalcon was quoted as to have a similar range to the MESA radar by northrop but was more bulky along with its sub-systems and other goodies…so i think the MESA is quoted at 200nm…i think so that should be the nearabout range of the phalcon
thats about 320 km right?
Maybe you are predisposed to believing whatever PAF gets is better.

Maybe Phalcon has a detection range of zero if it makes you feel happier.
If its OK by you, I will belive the ranges given by western media as opposed to Indian media, no offence, but Indian media is often very innacurate on defence matters (relative to Western media)…….
This World Tribune report gives a range of 500km, approx same as Erieye
This BBC report gives Phalcon a range of only 100 miles

maybe its right, maybe its wrong?
source?
Your range for Erieye contridictes FAS and Ericsson
http://www.ericsson.com/microwave/products_sensors_erieye.shtml
They both claim 450km
Accroding to this site, range of Erieye is 450km
thats irrelevent, both will be flying near the border, loiter time may belonger on IL-76, but what about actual range of the radars?
why?
Greece and Sweden are using this system and it is fully NATO interoperable while only Chile and India have gone for Phalcon, what are there respective ranges?!
Thanks dude, she a beauthy aint she!? 😀
so is Erieye better then Phalcon?
Hopefully these will be data linked with the JF-17s and F-16s as well as our Navy’s P-3 Orions
If Pakistan can aqquire Gripen after this deal and the relevant C4I infrastructure we are well on the way to creating a netcentric integrated air defence system
Nice pics, incidentally, why do all IAF pilots wear blue flying gear?
PAF Sabres were also used to attack IAF airfields, and even on these attack missions still manage to down more IAF jets, what applied to the hunter also applied to the Sabre…….
Hey anyone have any idea of what the Sri-lankan airforce consists of? There was a time(years ago) when India was all Ppaly with the LTTE that they sent IAF plans to airdrop food supplies to the tamils in the north of SL . The transports were escorted by a couple of Mirages and the Sri Lankans couldnt do a thing about it. Didnt they have any interceptors? Even if outclassed every nation has a right to put up a fight against any intruders. But the Sri-Lankans didnt do a thing.
Shame they live in such a tough neighbourhood, would be better if foregn planes did not overfly there airspace and left them in peace hey!?
PAF admits to only 8 losses, and for most part of the 80s PAF was conducting hostile operations on its Western borders with aircraft on constant CAP, meanwhile India has ordered 10 M2KHs from France as ATTRITION replacements………
